how do you guys go about product descriptions?

do you use the stock or rewrite them?

i have no budget, but is it the norm to hire a copywriter? isn't this expensive if you have a lot of products?

also which options are best for SEO?

If you wish you could rewrite product descriptions. This is unique content which is much appreciated by search engines.

It is usually a combination of both. Stock descriptions and bullet points and then value added or commentary in the descriptions. Stock photography that is then renamed to hit your keywords. A lot of stock descriptions are quite bland or sparse so its great to add to it. Add on top of this most stock descriptions don't take into effect H1, H2 and H3 Tags so there is room to play with that as well.

If you have a lot of products, it could be a real task to write descriptions for every single item you sell, especially if each one is uniquely different. As OnlineStoreHelp suggests, do a combination of both: unique and stock descriptions. I see as that's the only way to do it without spending a lot of $$, and, at the same time, ranking better on Google, and, providing something unique your customers, a new call to action that they have not read before. I have only a few products, so it was easier for me. Even if I had many more products, I don't think I would have hired someone to do it for me, or left it stock. But everyone does it differently. Good luck
