Hello to all members of the Warrior Forum
I have a very important question, it will interest everyone that's for sure!
There are many vendors (websites) that give the Drop Ship Service
The problem is the pictures of their products, they have a watermark with their site logo!
Is it possible to copy those images and put them watermark logo of my site to hide the watermark of their site logo?
Could it be a legal problem?
It's funny that they give Drop Ship Service but they put the watermark images with their website's logo

Unless they write that all images copyrighted by THEM, you can edit them and modify. There is a program available on the web to remove watermarks from images.

I don't think I agree with you on this. In the US, you now have to opt out of copyright so if nothing is said on the site, you need to assume that there is a copyright on the photos.

That being said, once you set up a relationship with the dropshipper, they should be able to provide you photos that are un-watermarked. And many times for larger manufacturers they provide you company created photos. Some even have online repositories.

The reason people putting watermarks is to either protect photos from stealing or to spread they own name on the web. Also I have a team who doing for me all graphics, they putting watermarks for both reasons since my products are OOAK. For the same reason I have a Copyright notice on the web to point that my images are not for stealing. I've seen my images on many blogs and all of them unedited, its giving me a good source of extra traffic flow.
In earlier days when I couldn't afford graphic designer, I simply edit non-copyrighted images from my suppliers home pages.

Why would you want to anger your dropshipper? Even if it isn't illegal, they could choose to drop you as a dropshipper if they have a problem with this. The simple solution is just to ask them for permission to do so. Most dropshippers probably would be ok with this since you are trying to move their product for them. The larger question is why would you want to run your business like you are doing something dodgy in the first place? Far better to do it above board over the long run and hold your head high. Ask yourself how you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes and you will know how to respond.

The other alternative is to buy 1 of each product and take pictures of it and then sell that product to customers by filling the order yourself and then using the dropshipper again after you sell that 1st product.

And I've had some that won't remove the watermarks. Simply don't do business with them.

Are they profitable? Why would they not sending you the original product images when we are helping them bringing in more customers. As someone mentioned, avoid them because it is not worthwhile your time to do extra menial work.

Exactly, if they want your business, then they need to provide images without watermarks, or NEXT!

This would depend on the drop shipper, they own the images so can decide what will be done with them. The fact they took the time to watermark them probably means they want the marks there.

    You should e-mail them.

Does this supplier sell directly to the public? If so, it is wayyy too easy for your traffic to leak out to their site and order direct.

If they sell direct to the public my advice would be to pass on them before you even know if they have images without watermarks.

If they do not sell direct to the public I would still try to get images without watermarks but may still consider listing their products even if those images were not available.

    Good Luck!
