Hi all. I'm looking for advice on choosing a good payment module for a Prestashop e-commerce website that my programmer and I are working on. This is the first time he's building an E-commerce website plus since he lives in Europe , he's not that familiar with preferred payment methods in the U.S.
I want to be able to receive credit card payments and paypal (but not a must)

Also, please explain what else we need to implement for these transactions to be secure so I could sleep at night
He mentioned SSL Certificate. Does it help to sign up with Authorize.net?

Wow, gutsy having someone build your site who has never built an ecommerce store AND doesn't know the market you are selling into. I hope he is doing this for free for you.

That being said, if you are selling in the US, then your best bet is to go with Stripe. No monthly fee but the module for prestaship is a bit pricey at $200. You would not need authorize.net if you went with them.

Prestashop supports PayPal standard out of the box so no need to buy a module for that. It also supports Authorize.net out of the box, ironically it doesn't support PayPal Pro out of the box so you have to buy a module for that, again $200.

Yes you need an SSL certificate and depending on your host, you might need to purchase a dedicated IP address.
