Hi,

Has anyone tried selling books book eBay. Do the sales figures compare at all to Amazon?

I tried looking at the sales completions and many books showed that no sales were made.

Sorry I meant "books on ebay".

Has anyone sold books on eBay? Does it compare to Amazon in terms of sales figures?

I actually looked into it a bit, I think its incredibly saturated, try Amazon the prices are a bit better.

It seems hundreds of desperate sellers are happy with making about a buck a book. If that. Look at all the listings at .99 with slightly high shipping fees, probably less than a dollar profit.

Stay away from fiction. Cook books. Even buying at thrift shops for 50 cents, there is still very little money to be made. You should buy some of the scanning programs out there to scan and check Amazons prices.

I would like to hear success stories?

I've sold books on both, and the margins are incredibly thin. My advice is to avoid bestsellers and try to find more obscure books. I never found a good niche to sell in and have had a handful of books up on my eBay store for several months now. They just don't sell.

However, I have seen success. I bought a book at a second hand store for $.50 and sold it on eBay for over $10!

I didn't have much success on Amazon either. I think you just have to know the right books to sell. It's also a very, very saturated market, so the competition is stiff. Then you'll always have those who will underprice their books (down to $.99), which most of us just can't compete with and make a profit.

It's tough out there, but certainly doable. Good luck!

Really this is an over-saturated idea and very difficult to compete.
Better go with Amazon on this one since the price will be higher and more people
    look on Amazon for books.

Selling eBooks (books on disc) on Ebay wont get you rich by itself but is still great for sales funnelling i.e. so that you can build a list and get paid outside eBay by selling/offer them more books or other products via email offers in that niche (usually go after those after 'How-to' or self help topics and latest internet marketing methods i.e video marketing, facebook, etc)
