HOW TO AVOID PROBLEMS/ISSUES/HASSLES SELLING DROPSHIPPED PRODUCTS THAT SELL FOR $1000-2000?

I am considering selling products in the $1000-2000 price range on my website...dropshipped for me by a wholesale outfit.

Due to the fact that these are pricey products, what potential problems/issues/hassles could I encounter?

And how best can I avoid these problems/issues/hassles?

Note: The dropshipper will "only accept returns if there is a defect due to the manufacturing process."

You'd need to use the same return policy but it will really harm your sales if you can't offer a strong guarantee. It doesn't inspire confidence.

What happens if it gets damaged in transit?
What happens if a customer changes their mind (for whatever reason)?

You need to sort these issues out in advance with your dropshipper

Thank you Ecommerce Advice! Quick question: any issues you can think of as far as customers payments? If they pay via PayPal or a credit card, can they in any way ask for/get their money back AFTER they've received the merchandise?

To get their money back, they will have to return the merchandise, and prove to CC co they sent it. CC co usually make you honor returns if customer is unsatisfied. So not sure what the product is and if you can ger around this. If they are custom products, that would more than likely give you some benefit for no returns unless defective.

Hard to say without knowing more.

    Problems from what side?

The customer's side or your side?

If you want to sell pricy products, establish trust (Seals, Phone Number, etc), if you are worried about returns, best to be very clear with on your site about it. The more clear you are the more sales you will actually get.

The same exact problems/issues/hassles that you can encounter selling products at any price point... returns, damage when shipping, chargebacks, complaints, etc, etc, etc..

The best three ways that I know of are:

    Research the supplier:
    - try to find reviews of their products online before you start selling their products. See if previous customers are happy with their purchases.

    Clearly defined policies:
    - make your shipping and returns policies mimic those of your supplier(s) and make your customer agree to them before placing their order. Make sure they are clearly displayed on your site and that they leave no room for interpretation.

    Offer AMAZING customer support:
    - have a phone number listed on your site and actually answer it (or have someone answer it) whenever it rings during business hours. This is by far the easiest way to reduce your risk, keep customers (and potential buyers) happy and not minimize your risk.

    Hope that helps,
    Anton

Yes if a buyer contacts a company like PayPal and disputes a payment after they have received the item. PayPal will contact you asking for more information. Good lucking in winning a dispute. It is very hard to prove you are in the right, more often than I have found they side with the customer and refund them. Yes it is certainly something to be aware of.
