Book Selling - Seasonal?

Hi,

I started selling books on Amazon in August and sales were very slow. However someine advised that people don't buy books in the summer. As soon as September came around sales shot increased greatly but this week they have nose dived.

Does anyone know if it is a one off sales slump or people saving for Christmas?

My feedback is very good and I have no negative reviews.

It depends on the types of books you are selling. Textbooks are seasonal, but regular books are not.

I don't know but I guess a lot of people buy books for relatives towards Christmas.

Thanks. I have a few text books but 99% are regular books.

Books are not really seasonal. eCommerce sales are generally slow in most category of items in the summer months. Less people are browsing.

Rank is really important for books - books over 1,000,000 in rank sometimes take a while to sell, while a book ranked 540 might sell 120 copies a day. However, dont let rank be a deciding factor because if a book sells twice in 1 day, its rank might be like 30,000 and then someone else might not purchase the book for 5 months.

Yep, it's definitely not seasonal IMHO. I think it has a lot do with your marketing skills and product you are selling. I'm still working on that...
