there are 2 things to consider#1 relevance, and #2 word count. On the basis of click percentage there are 3 positions on a search page. 1st 2nd and 3rd. 1st gets the most, 2nd gets half of 1st, and 3rd gets 1/2 of 2nd. After that its down hill. You can however rank lower (say 3rd 4th or 5th) if your listing tag is more relevant to the reader.

There is a science to all of this. It comes down to how to place the words on the page, Placing your keyword from top to bottom evenly helps in your relevance score, which most of the time plays as a heavy variable in your site placement on a search engine.

There are ways to "hide" your keyword as well, but that is where a ton of studying on your part or a SEO person comes into play. Html will become your worst enemy, but in time will turn into your most valued friend!

    justme11,

I'm assuming you're building an online store. #1 priority for an online retailer is to build brand presence. With your increasing brand presence and interest in your store name you will see gradual increase in rankings for the rest of your pages.

To make this happen though, you will need a solid organized optimization of pages with unique content. Remember, each page on an ecommerce store is treated as any other page. You need unique content, solid design and a good CMS.

If this is too much for you to do on your own, I'd suggest hiring a web designer/developer to set up the store and be ready to invest heavily in product page optimization.

Once you have a solid, quality foundation, have started to market your brand - facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc - you can begin building a knowledge base and seeding out for links to your store and various pages.

In the short term - PPC will be your main sales driver. Remember, that paid advertising in ecommerce pays for itself when done properly.

    Hope this helped!

This is the same question of hundreds of thousands of other marketers, i will like to give you a piece of advice,
Instead buying some products and expensive methods that claim you will get to #1 position in no time, try to hire some professionals and let them do their job, you will find a lot of them on this forum and others, just make sure you carefully research and check out reviews
This is what i learned after spending a lot of money and time
