I apologize for probably beating a dead horse, but in the long run will it pay off to have a domain name without a - in it? It would cost me about $125.00 to acquire and I'm on a shoestring budget just getting started.

If you can afford it I would - especially if you expect people to remember your domain or talk about it.

Because chances are they will forget about the - in the domain (and if you don't buy it and become successful someone else will come along and buy the non - version and want 10x as much when you do want it)

If most of your traffic will come from organic rankings or paid search, it won't matter as much in the long run. If you want to build a name brand with people typing in your domain, it would be a bigger issue.

But if you are like me, anything other than a .com with no dashes will eventually drive you crazy. At this point, I only buy domains with three words or less, no dashes or weird spellings, and must be .com. Anything else just bugs me every time I look at it.
