Dropshipping Automation/ Squarespace

Good Evening Warriors.

First a quick introduction and then I'll get to the reason for my post.

I'm a mid 30's energy consultant looking to turn my passion for outdoor and shooting sports into a career. I envision myself writing engaging reviews of new gear and selling the gear that I and others think are top shelf.

I am a long distance commuter and as such I'm an avid listener of podcasts such as the Joe Rogan Experience. Any fellow podcast listeners will know that Squarespace has been pushing their platform hard. I bit. I sold myself the dream of building a great website that stocked all the brands I know and love and started building.... and I have to admit, the site is coming along nicely.

I admit I did only basic initial research. By using Squarespace I was forced to use Stripe as a payment processor. Stripe does not allow the sale of weapons or munitions per their terms of service, so that put a nice dent in sales right off the bat as ammo sales have gone ballistic over the last few years and were a source of revenue I'd initially planned on.

Now to the real issue at hand. I've sought out and opened accounts with a couple of dropshipping companies, namely Moteng and Kroll International. I'd like to automate my website's inventory to match my suppliers. Moteng pointed me to Inventory Solutions. After signing up for a free trial and doing some reading I see that I'll need to integrate with Squarespace's shopping cart platform. Trouble is that Squarespace and it's help desk have not been able to tell me what shopping cart platform they use....

So I throw myself upon the mercy of WF and ask the age old question. Should I walk away and start over on a new platform that is easier to integrate third party inventory and automation? I have a full time career that keeps me busy to the point that I simply cannot sit and route orders and update inventory by hand. This was a major oversight on my part. Automation is what I based this entire plan on.

Is anyone here using squarespace? Have you integrated order processing and inventory updating?

I'll be starting a new website for ammo sales anyway.... any advice on which site builder I should use?

If you'd like to look at my store please message me, I believe the ToS for WF keep me from just posting it up for all to view (and to gain backlinks).

Thank you in advance for your help. Any constructive criticism will be taken as such.

I hope to learn, grow, and then pass my knowledge down to new drop ship dreamers.

Hi, I love Squarespace and have been playing around with its ecommerce features for a while but I would have to say it's in its infancy really and I don't think they'll be the right fit for what you want to do right now. Their USP is simplicity and they control their integrations really tightly with a small number of vendors.

I would move to another platform, to be honest. I hate saying that, as I love Squarespace, but in your case, I think other platforms are more mature and will allow for third party integration much more easily.

Amazon repricing software that helps you win the Buy Box more often. eBay repricing also available.

      From Squarespace today:

Our shopping cart is built and managed by us/our developers. There's no way to integrate it with another third-party service such as Inventory Source at this time.

But, I think it would be a great idea to allow users to use/integrate with other cart and wholesale services! I've gone ahead and forwarded this idea onto our developers. Although we can't guarantee feature implementations, all suggestions are reviewed and your continued input is always welcome. Thanks!

Let us know if you have any other questions or need help with anything else. We're always here and happy to help, 24/7!

Have you found any other distributors besides Kroll and Moteng? I am looking for someone who carries Voodoo Tactical and want to not limit myself to those two distributors.

I found squarespace and signed up too. Started building a site and then saw limitations that were frustrating me and that was just with basic stuff so I abandoned it and went to shopify. I currently have a bigcommerce and shopify site. My gripe with bigcommerce is that I have to get a high tiered plan simply because number of products when the next one down offers the same features with the only difference being the number of products you can have. My gripe with shopify is 1) they lured me in with a promise of advertising credits which I later found out didn't apply to me but their sales pitch never mentioned that. They've since made good on that issue and 2) anything else you want add for your store costs extra jingle.

BigCommerce is pretty good. It's fairly easy to learn the back-end and it's very scalable.

Magento has a few very good drop ship extensions which can automate the process. These tend to be a bit expensive upfront but no monthly fees so in the long run more cost effective.
