Sellers not responding, is it because of the Chinese New Year?

I'm new to eCommerce, and I'm trying to contact sellers on Aliexpress for pictures, but hardly anyone is responding. It is really scaring me because if the sellers are so unresponsive then how safe is it to do business with them. But the minimal few who responded are saying that their offices are closed because of the Chinese New Year, and even if I buy anything, they can ship it only after 8th.

Is it happening with you guys as well or am I just dealing with an unprofessional lot? Is the Chinese New Year the reason for these communication lags?

2 minutes of googling would have given you that answer. But yes, Lunar New Year is the biggest thing over there and most everybody will be back to work on the 10th of this month.

Yup... it's Chinese New year. This was quite jarring to me when I began importing. When you have established relationships, they will let you know in advance when they are shutting down and starting work again- be sure to order a LOT of your top products in advance Good luck!
