Australian Selling on Amazon?

Hi all,

I've done a bunch of research however haven't found or heard of any Aussies that are successfully selling via Amazon fulfilment services on Amazon.com

I currently sell through eBay and my own ecommerce site however I know there is a big demand for my product from the US market, and postage from Australia is slow when I sell to the US via eBay.

To my understanding a US bank account and US address are required to sell on Amazon.com and use their fulfilment services.

I am wondering if anyone knows any workarounds or ways to get on Amazon on as an Australian?

As I currently have a Payoneer account, which to my knowledge could be classed as a US bank account, and perhaps something like HopShopGo could be used for a residential address.

Appreciate any help/advice

Did you know there is now Amazon.com.au? I am also in Australia and I assume you can use your Aussie bank details for that site.

There are some fulfillment orgs in the US that cater to Aussie companies. They might be able to help out. It might be too spendy to bring your products into their world and send them to Amazon though. I used to work for Austrade so I found out about those folks. Also, talk to your local Austrade or TradeStart rep and maybe they have advice. The want exports!

Yes, you can definitely do this! You may still need a U.S. bank account as you mentioned. I don't know that you need a U.S. address. On Amazon.com, they encourage us to "branch out" to selling on other Amazon (international) sites. I don't think they require these things anymore (at least not in the U.S- could be wrong about that). If you DO need both of these things, they should be fairly simple to set up (google "set up a u.s. bank account from Australia"). I believe you can also set up a P.O. box in the U.S. fairly easily that will serve as a "U.S. address."

If you work with suppliers, most of them will be willing to send merchandise DIRECTLY to Amazon's warehouse (FBA-fulfillment by Amazon as you mentioned.) This will take the Australian piece out of the puzzle (and save you a LOT on shipping.) If your supplier is only in Australia, you'll need to ship it to the U.S yourself, but when done in bulk will still be worth it in the long-run.

Worst case scenario, you could go on Elance or Odesk and find a U.S. contractor to do some of this initial setup for you- of course you'd have to be careful with the legal side of it (having someone else set up a bank account for instance). It could be worth hiring an attorney to be sure everything is done correctly and 100% legit.

Once you get it set up, I think you'll be happy that you did! Hope this helps!

If you look into it you will find that people from many countries are selling on Amazon. It is not just those in the US by any means.

    Hi,

Thanks for mentioning Payoneer as a solution to receive your Amazon Seller earnings!

We provide you with a US collection account which you can use to receive US bank transfers from US companies (such as Amazon). We have many Amazon Sellers currently receiving payments to their Payoneer accounts.

The Payoneer account has a Payoneer Prepaid Debit MasterCard card, which you can use to make purchases online, in stores, and at ATMs worldwide. You can also withdraw your funds to your local bank account.

In addition to a US collection account, we also have a new pilot program offering an EU collection account (for SEPA transfers). If anyone has interested in either service mentioned above, feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to assist in getting you set up.

Payoneer supports local bank transfers to over 80 countries. These countries will all have access to the Withdrawal to Bank Account Service.

As a new service we are slowly making it available to additional account holders and hope to have it available for everyone in these supported countries within the next few months.

In addition we are working on adding a full list of supported countries and currencies to our website.
