there seems to be alot of different opinions on how to make a good ebay listing. I was wondering if there is any definitive thought on this topic.

    Oh, in regards to marketing/selling of anything, there is nothing definite other than change and effort. Oh, and sell it for more than you paid for it.

    A good listing should answer all the questions a buyer might have about the product. It should also sell the product to a certain extent. You'd be surprised at the number of one line descriptions on eBay. Yes, eBay now lists some information like shipping and returns for the buyer but you should still put it in the description. As far as HTML pictures and stuff like that it really depends on the product. Do a Best Match search for the product your selling and look at the top sellers that should give you an idea of what to do.

    As was said before, "auctiondebteliminator" seems to be the "go-to" guy on this forum about ebay related stuff. I sell a bit on Ebay, but he is the expert. My model is to sell physical products, fulfill them through FBA (fulfillment by Amazon) which keeps me from boxing, shipping or even touching the products (I own them however- they are simply stored in Amazon's warehouse.) I also use ebay as a tool to build lists for my brand. I learned a lot about this from Jim Cockrum's "Silent Sales Machine"

    There are a lot of different models people use on ebay successfully, but this works for me. Hope this helps!

    But, to sum it all up, here's what you need to do in order to rank your eBay items high:

    1. Exploit the views to actions ratio: That means, for every listing, do your best to garner a reaction. That is, follow my three rules of eBay. (Without being overtly self-promotional, you can find those in my sig link for free.)

    2. Super long titles that only have keywords

    3. ORIGINAL pictures

    4. Generous return policy

    5. Quick Shipping fulfillment policy

    6. In the description, have a great visual appeal, and don't just 'sell the product' but also 'sell yourself!'

    So far, I haven't seen any mention of headlines/titles... arguably one of the most important aspects of listing.

    If you can't get anyone to read your listing, you wouldn't get any takers even if offering $1000 worth of product for $5.00.

    Once you get someone to read the listing, THEN the other factors become important.

    For 50 cents more per eBay listing, you can buy a Subtitle to do more "selling" or "describe" your product in more detail.

      Exactly right- ALL that matters is the quality of the pictures AND the listing title. People hardly look past the pictures.

    Yes the quality of the pictures is very important. When I go sourcing on ebay I actually seek out poor pictures because I know that there will be less potential buyers and I am more likely to get a better auction price for that item. It simply does not appeal to buyers as much with poor pics.
