I have ran across this forum many times searching things on Google, so I decided I would go ahead and join!

I recently got started with DS Domination, I have sold 2 items in little less then 2 weeks, not sure if that is good or not!!

But as I keep reading about DS Domination and drop shipping, I am wondering if this is the best avenue! Trying to make sure I am profiting after both eBay and PayPal fees, but keeping it at a price that one is willing to pay!! That is hard!

Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if I should just stick it out with DS Domination, in the hopes that the profit margins get better or I should look into something else.

Would buying and keeping products on hand be a better choice?

I mean I like the idea of not having to deal with the product or ship it!!

I guess right now my biggest issues is being a new seller to eBay has my funds on hold and trying to make a profit after all the fees involved!

It sounds like you are being at least somewhat responsible in watching and monitoring your options. But you need to do some research to determine what are the best markets for you to be able to make some decent margins so you are not cutting it so close on profitablility. You can get there by finding less competitive products so you can charge more or higher priced items that have more dollars built into the margin. Personally I don't like low priced items for drop shipping because when you add in your drop shipping fee your cost may not be competitive. Once you establish yourself you can ask drop shippers to lower fees but you need to have some volume first.

I am in the same boat as you but i have a very good Ebay rating since '99. More and more i read, the less and less i thinking drop shipping is the way to go. There are many good points on both sides but it really has come down to me that i like control. Im a retail business owner at heart for years so customer service is always my #1 priority. Now just finding the right manufacture to buy the product is the tricky part, at least for me.

I think you will find in this sub-forum there will be very few fans of MLM schemes which is what DS Domination is. And from what I have seen of DS is it is not really dropshipping, it is arbitrage which is why you will always be at risk.

To answer your questions, you will almost always have the best margin when you take inventory and fulfill it yourself. Especially if you have small items that are easy to ship and store. True wholesalers normally give you a better price for taking larger inventories so yes, you can make more money that way.

The risk, well it can be a lot of money out of pocket and if it doesn't sell, you are stuck with it. Unless you have something fairly unique in a niche, I always tell people to dropship and take inventory on the items you know will sell.

True wholesalers and distributors are a dream to work with and every one I have worked with have gone out of their way to solve customer snafu's which have resulted in great experiences on my side. So true dropshipping can work very well.

Again, it takes research, diligence and homework to set up this business. It is not just buying from walmart.com, sears.com or overstock.com and selling it on eBay. It means researching your niche, finding your USP, negotiating with distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers and putting a plan in place to succeed.

If you are not willing to do that homework, no purported push button system is going to make you the money to make it worth your while.

I think I am going to pull out of DSD. I have paid $20 bucks for the month, then now I have $25.00 in fees from eBay. Pretty sure in the end I haven't made any money. I like the concept, but I don't feel it is going well for me. I am going to do more research on buying wholesale and keep inventory and see if that will work better for me. Thanks for all the input.
