OpenCart vs PrestaShop vs Woocommerce

What platform to use for my site.?

I am acquainted with Wordpress but have absoultely no clue about the other 2 OpenCart and Prestashop. I have a CSV file ready to import ( with 1000+ products) .

I have already spent last 2 days setting up Woocommerce site, but now I am thinking should I try OpenCart or Prestashop.

Magento I heard is too complex , so probably not for newbies.

Shopify is not free and I am looking at something with low budget.

Please guide.

    Since it costs you nothing to try them out, yes I agree you should try out Prestashop and Opencart. I always suggest using a dedicated shopping cart script as it provides you a hell of a lot more tools to help with the success of an online store.

    The only difficulty with Opencart is changing the htaccess file to allow for SEO friendly URL's but literally you can have your hosting company walk you through the process.

    Other then that there are tons of third party modules to make the sites do what you want, still lightweight and I think will handle more visitors better.

    If there is one thing that bugged me about Prestashop was some of their third party modules (stripe integration for example) I thought were a bit pricey compared to Opencart.

    Add on top of it you can get beautiful responsive themes off of Themeforest and for $70 bucks have a modern, powerful shopping cart for your customers. If you need a blog, you can always install wordpress in the directory myshoppingsite.com/blog/ and you get the best of both worlds.

      My supplier has provided me with a CSV file and I need to figure out how to bulk upload my products (1000+). Are there any free plugins do to this in OpenCart or will I have buy? I really want to test it out so I am going with free stuff to keep my budget as low as possible. I am not sure how much of a learning curve OpenCart will be. I already spent a lot of time trying to setup my Wordpress site with Woocommerce but now I want to switch to something else. But not sure if I am going in right direction.

    Woo has a csv import extension that imports products via csv. I don't use Open Cart or the others but have imported thousands of products into Woocommerce with the csv extension.

    Woocommerce is better then other about SEO.
    for the features, i think woocommerce is still okay. but opencart is best of them. especially on shipping options

    about importing csv file, in woocommerce if you wanna upload complex product (there is variation inside yours) you need additional cost to buy woocommerce import plugin

    All of them are good. My advice is that you should go for the one that makes life convenient for you.

    If you're experienced with Wordpress then WooCommerce is a great choice, there are a ton of add-ons and plugins for bulk importing/exporting.

    I use both on various sites, I prefer WooCommerce.

      There are a lot of great recommendations in this thread, even though some of them conflict with one another!

      As always, when you're looking for software to use with your business, I'd make sure to do your due diligence, research, and make sure you find something that'll absolutely work with your online selling operation.

    open cart can be a option but try for Magento platform to build an Ecommerce website. Magento provide unique features which are very useful for development and maintaining eCommerce site.

    I would vote for Woocommerce anytime! It let's you easily build a great looking functional ecommerce site. With all those fantastic paid and free extensions available it allows you to do almost everything you like.

    In my opinion it has a learning curve (like any other tool) but once you got it it's just amazing!

    Magento is the better option for larger quantities of products
    It is preferred for stores with a huge variety of product types
    It is recommended for highly complex and customisable products
    We would recommend Magento over WooCommerce as a complete business solution
    Magento is far better equipped for handling mutli-language storefronts
    Magento is not just for power users, a newbie can also use it.

      Not necessarily. Magento has an array of weaknesses

      1) Hosting
      A full featured Magento store with a few thousand products would cost you about upwards of USD 500/month, while you can run WooCommerce well on a Cloud VPS server

      2) Extensions
      Some Magento extensions renew every 3 months. In comparison, Woocommerce extensions renew every 12 months

      3) Development
      Magento has just released version 1.9, while WooCommerce has grown leaps and bounds and comes up with something new every now and then.

      4) Upgrading
      Upgrading your store to v1.9? You might break it. Perhaps paying USD 5000 would solve the problem (and that's why developers like Magento, they get paid well upgrading your store). WooCommerce uses Wordpress' famous 1 click update.

    absolutely woocommerce is great for you uploading 1k+ products at a time. Alot of free and paid plugins available for woocommerce.

    Opencart is easy to use and more scalable than prestashop....

    Well, In my opinion, Opencart is the best eCommerce platform compare than others. Because, it is based on cloud computing and mobile friendly service. Apart from this, there are some other services, which makes it better:-
