In short, I need more traffic! Have a few backlinks, but not enough to call flows of traffic. What's the easiest way to increase traffic without spending $$ I don't have?

Relying 100% on free traffic will be a sloooow road. You can email your list and do some SEO but there are obvious limits to those free approaches. It's fine to start that way most successful ecommerce sites have multiple sources of traffic.

Paid traffic (PPC, display, retargeting etc.) should be cost effective so you make more than you spend. You really don't even need to spend much to test a few different sources. Last time I checked you could buy FB and Adwords vouchers on Fiverr for $5.

  • Are you building your list. You first mission should be to build a list around your Niche
By getting your autoresponder ready to go to work for you with preloaded messages for at least 2 months
Then capturing your leads sending the traffic to your autoresponder and affiliate links so you can start making money.
Hope this helps if you need any help you can always pm me.

I'm really just learning SEO. Backlinks = limited.
Is this the heart and soul of traffic? Should this be my focus?
