Selling Physical Products - Viral Traffic?

I have a site that sells bodybuilding motivation/humorous clothing (site 1) and I want to use viral images and social media to bring in the punters. I currently also have 2 other sites to help achieve this (as well as the usual FB, Twitter etc.), one for motivation (site 2) and the other for humour (site 3).

I've not long started and am now looking to start pushing these sites but not sure if I've got the most appropriate setup.

My question is, what do you think is the best strategy of the three options below.
  1. Stick with 3 separate sites, using sites 2 & 3 to drive traffic to site 1.
  2. Combine sites 2 & 3 into one motivational\humour site to drive traffic to site 1.
  3. Combine all 3 sites into one motivational\humour site that also has a shop.

Option 1) or 2) means I can still have a separate site that is all about selling stuff and so can hopefully attract targeted traffic as well as referral visitors from sites 1 & 2.

Option 3) has the advantage that I should receive more traffic to the one site which should help build momentum.

Very much appreciate thoughts\comments anyone has on this one.

Site 1: Home - Gym Shirt Den
Site 2: Muscle Insight - Bodybuilding Visuals To Motivate, Inform & Amuse
Site 3: Gym Gags - The Lighter Side of Lifting Heavy Iron

Thnx

I am in favor of a single site because it is very hard to SEO three sites at the same time. Moreover, more unique content on your main shopping site ould help with the rankings.

    Hi Dack,
From my experience with SEO I highly and for sure recommend to Stick with 3 separate sites, and start using sites 2 & 3 to drive traffic to site 1.
So in the first think you should begin with one of the Motivational\Humour site and focus on it by doing some keyword research, creating unique contents for it and backlinking. And off course put the site1 link in both 2 & 3.
    Good luck

From a branding perspective, it is much easier to build a single brand than it is three at a time. You have a lot of cool ideas and given that all three are wordpress sites you can add the functionality from the one site (create your own meme I believe) onto the main money site. Add on top of this, these are not what I would call three unique niches so in my mind doesn't make sense to split up.

What I can tell you is this is a perfect Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram business in the making, You can even automate the postings through either hoot suite or direct from your RSS feed to the various social networks.

The biggest Issue I see from an SEO perspective, at least on one site, no content, just pictures and maybe the SEO people can correct me, but pictures without content don't get the love that content does.

BTW, I love the meme and poster generator!

Yeh, user submission can be added to any of the sites like your spotted, they're all WP.

I do plan to make heavy use of FB, Twitter, Pinterest etc, and if I stick with 3 sites then each will their own media pages.

        Thnaks for the compliments BTW

I agree with OnlineStoreHelp, you would achieve a much better result marketing the images with social networks.
Is your main goal to sell more products? Do you sell to the U.S.?

I had thought of using social pages alone for bringing in traffic and not bothering with my own 'peripheral' sites - that's still an option.

Yes, the goal is sellng prodcuts, the image sharing sites are there to help bring in the traffic and create a 'buzz'.

I use Spreadshirt to fuflill orders and they're worldwide although I do epxect msot slae to the US.

Hmmm your getting pretty mixed answers :p

I'd be doing separate sites if you're worried about SEO. Easier to rank for long tail.

You was going to say split test all three ideas but I don't know how possible that is?

Just guessing here, but I reckon at least 50% of my traffic is gonna come in through social media referals as opposed to search engines, this based on analysing competitor sites. So need to weight up SEO agaisnt social media referals.

3 different websites are better as per my experience but you should work on making wheel of 3 website. In this way each website will help other in achieving good ranking.
