      Could you explain why?

I'm trying to establish what will be the best solution for a clothing store.

Also the godaddy store says it is easy to use with ebay. I'm not sure exactly what this entails but I plan on using ebay for a large part of my sales so that could be a good feature if I can find some more information about it

mind you when i looked into godaddy it was a while ago when i wasnt as knowledgeable as I am now... at the time they had three one click install stores, I tried all three, they all were free initially but then you had to pay for features and i found them all to be confusing which is actually why I went and looked into volusion and 1st cart.

For clothing stores, the open source carts tend to work best mainly because they give you features to add attributes to make it easy for people to search for items. Same thing with office supply stores. So in your case, your best bet might be opencart or prestashop. That is assuming a wide range of products versus a niche business where the hosted carts will work just fine.

GoDaddy "stores" are designed to nickel and dime you without adding a lot of functionality compared to a store script like above or a fully hosted ecommerce platform many of us like. It is really hard to grow them, tend not to be mobile ready and give you none of the integrations and tools you need to run a legitimate e-commerce business.

I personally don't like volusion since they nickel and dime you for every little thing and have more of their branding on your website then you do your own. (powered by volusion, payments by volusion, ssl by volusion) and also agressive sellers any time you call.

Just my two cents. For what you pay there are better platforms out there, even square space I would use over godaddy but even then, hard to grow those businesses.

Maybe I shouldn't reply because I've never tried it but my gut says that Godaddy isn't the route to go.

There are MANY free open source platforms you can use that are made for ecommerce specifically. As in that is ALL they do. I tend to use Prestashop most frequently for my personal stores and I love it but Magento is excellent too.

There are tons of free and paid resources available for both depending on what you want to accomplish. Let me know if you want any help

If you're going to go with a hosted solution you may be best off avoiding GoDaddy. They're service isn't that great for anything other than domains and even then you can do better.

Maybe you can work with a company that's spent the past few years fine-tuning their product?

I would spend the money and hire someone to build you a site using OpenCart or Shopify.
