I was analyzing one of my blogs on Google Analytics the other day. I noticed that the home/front page was getting 75% of the page views, while the blog post page was only receiving 25% of the page views. The time spent on the front page was less than a minute or so. I re-created the front page, not too much, to see what the results would be, but, at the bottom, I placed a marker: "click on 'my best advice', above," with an arrow pointing upward. Do you think this is dumbing things down? Will readers take offense at this. I mean, this is not ad copy; I'm not selling a product. I just want them to read the blog posts.

This is normal, no matter the type of website you have you'll find that most of your traffic hits very few of your pages with the homepage typically the most popular.

Since it's a blog you're running try using sticky posts to show the posts you want to drive additional traffic to on your homepage.

What I do when I notice stats like this is to look at the keywords that got them to the page in question and make sure that those keyword topics are shown prominently on that page. Most people who click right off a page they landed on do it because they do not immediately see what they were looking for, so go back to the search results to try another page. You may just need a simple tweak or two. For one of my stores, I discovered moving the pagination navigation to the top and having more products per page helped customers realize there were more products in that category so they didn't just bounce off the first page. Think about what your visitor is most interested in and make sure it is in their face

You can always put things that are unattractive or unexciting on the homepage and make sure to put that link to those blog posts on the upper left and left side of the webpage. The corner upper left is highly popular and people will click on those often. I tested this with a lot of category and it works.

@LABEShops posted the best answer. Check what keywords bring people to your website and promote blog posts about that. Watch your bounce rate decrease.
