I have PMed 2 people from here to guide me on setting up ecommerce site using OpenCart since I am a newbie in this direction and I got no reply.

I created a thread to ask same question--scroll down and you will see the thread-- and nobody gave a single reply.

I only started coming on here after a very long break since 2012. There seem to have been changes which I do not understand and it's making me feel so alien to the terrain.

All I am asking is a guide that will enable me set up and ecommerce site on OpenCart. I am only good with wordpress. I did Googel around but didnt find much info that can lead me step by step.

Can someone help me?

It could be the fact that not as many people ( myself included ) use opencart to create their ecommerce websites. I feel that if you were asking about woocommerce or a hosted solution you might get a different response.

If you are hard set on using opencart to build your store --- maybe hiring someone from a freelance website would be better than just asking for advice.

    Just don't give up.

I get a few private messages asking questions and don't always answer. Fact is, I don't provide private coaching services, free or paid. If you have a question, ask it in the forum, then if people WANT to answer and know the answer, they will.

If your question was about OpenCart, I don't use it and probably never will.

Here's a link to the Open Cart forum. They should be able to help you. If you Google "Open Cart forum" without quotes there are a few helpful links.

    forum.opencart.com/‎

Also, you can get technical assistance from outsourcers that are familiar with Open Cart at Odesk.com.

On a personal note, I understand your frustration. However, sometimes we have to learn to do certain things or find certain things on our own.

I spent $2,000.00 to go to the System Seminar back in 2006 and was running around like crazy with a notebook, trying to get as many questions answered as I could in the short three day event.

I recall asking Cindy Kappler, one of the organizers of the event, a question that was very generic. Her reply was to "Google it". She even seemed a bit irritated that I'd ask something so simple that was out of her area of expertise.

The lessons I learned that day were that I MUST learn to be more self sufficient and that you don't pay big bucks to go to seminars and ask simple questions. LOL

You should always feel free to ask questions, though. Some people will be quick to help and some won't, but don't wait too long for an answer. Just go find it. Go to Google, Bing, Amazon.com, EzineArticles.com, Dummies.com, the local library, outsource it if you have to, etc.

    HTH,

    Joe

I have one site running opencart. Prior to that site i had years of Wordpress experience but no experience with shopping carts. Pretty much a snap to set up - what questions do you have?

This section of the forum is different than the main forum. So the number of people that can answer your question are fewer and farther between. Most questions in this section seem to be about Magneto, shopify or one or two others. Since that is case it would be even harder to find some one in the know.

If you sent a PM. The other person on the end, could think it could be spam and ignore it or they could be to busy to help. A lot of new people on this forum have come in with a sense of entitlement. So the vets around here seem to ignore a lot of it. IMHO.

This section is constantly being bombarded by advertisers trying to sneak in as a new person and asking for free info just to get a link back to their site. I don not see it in your case but it is a realty with other poster's. A week ago someone asked for help with a new web-site they purchased asking for a review. A few weeks earlier the same site was posted by a different poster. They were gaming the W.F. for Amazon links.

This is still the same W.F. but people that help out either pick and choose their replies or don't answer at all for other reasons.

Try Joe Stweart's suggestion good luck in you search

I used the following guide when I installed Opencart: Installation - OpenCart 1.5 - OpenCart Documentation

You Tube also has many videos that explain the installation process
