You will need an account on sellercentral.amazon.com. They also prefer products have barcodes like UPC, you get register with GS1US that's what I did. Also if it's your brand you will want to apply with the brand registry here to ensure you page listing control.

Thanks for the response. Also, who labels your products (if you get whitelabel products) with your brand name etc?

I have a Chinese supplier who prints my logo and ships to me. I fulfill my own orders after that.

So for the barcode service you mentioned, for every product, do you have to have 1 barcode? or can you use one barcode for multiple products?

      Thanks,

Get Started > Uniquely Identify Products and Locations with U.P.C. Barcodes | GS1 US

If you visit the link above you will get all the info you need, and the ability to register to use barcodes and create. You have to have one barcode for each item, even each variation like color. Then if you want to have say a 10 pack or red and a 10 pack of blue you have to have two barcodes for each as well.

Well I would go with becoming a GS1US member, because you gain access to their tools and resources and if that site goes down you lose your UPS and you have to change your product packaging and listings. Also Amazon asks if you own the UPC prefix when you apply for brand ownership, also if you try to sell your product in stores you may have issues. Also the yearly fee is only $50 if you get 1-10 barcodes.

To reduce your overheads in the starting phase you can also use a UPC/EAN code reseller like https://www.ean-upc-codes.com (disclaimer i am the owner of this service) Use SAVE10 at the checkout to get 10% off.
