How to make a store unique?

I'm planning to do a private label product line in the food niche. I will order it from a whole seller already labelled and packed in units with my logo.

But let's say I'm into Pasta for example. That's not very exiting even if I'm the only one to sell my brand why should people buy from me?

My thought was to make it a lifestyle product, but I'm not sure how. Should I post recipes on a blog on my Shop site or what do you suggest?

There will be no local Shop, only my website (Woocommerce I think) and I will also sell it on Amazon.

I think (especially if your site is a wordpress site with woo commerce) that you should definitely offer recipes on your website. Another thought, you could actually offer the recipe, and maybe even some of the other spices needed with your pasta. (per recipe). Just a thought. Good Luck!

That's something I thought about before. But how can I make my brand "cool" like Apple for example so people just want it just because it's hot?

Maybe that's true...I'm just looking to create something fresh. I think a store that only sells food is boring no matter what food or brand. But if I can mix a certain Lifestyle in there it might be more appealing for some folks.

Man, I absolutely think you're on the right track in terms of the way you're thinking about and planning to run your business.

The "lifestyle brand" approach is really where it's at, these days. Doesn't mean you have to become the biggest online store that the world has ever known...but you can certainly take a page out of someone like Apple's book and use a few of their ideas to find your own success.

I'd say that your blogging idea is 100% spot-on. Not only should you offer awesome products and inventory for your audience to buy, but show how they can live their lives with your product. This is the key to content marketing, anyway. Nobody wants to read a blog that's only about your online store or your inventory. At least not on a regular basis.

But if you're consistently putting forth content that caters to your audience and their desires, you'll establish yourself as a source of awesome content, you'll build your trust and authority online, and Google will TOTALLY love you (they are seriously all about original, informative content).

Check out the Natural Product Industry for some companies that have created a lifestyle brand, Vega, for one comes to mind.

    Natural Products Expo West 2014

The show is in CA, not sure if there's one in Europe as well.

    That's just to see examples

Regarding your specific idea. If I were you, I'd ask myself 'why'. Why did you choose the food you chose? Is there a good emotional hook story? Also really think about what will differentiate your product from the competition - of the very same product. How will you stand out? Price? Brand? Story? Partnership? Celebrity backing? All the big bloggers talk you up?

    hope that helps.

What your asking is WHAT is my USP?. This is not something WE should be involve with. YOU have to ask, 'WHY is this different'? natural, convenient, price. Determining the Unique selling proposition is the #1 challenge for a new start-up. REALLY give it serious thought.

I guess you're right in what you say that I have to find my USP myself.

In my market (by the way german market) there are about 35 competing sites across different keywords. Among them I found only two modern websites and only one (!) responsive. That will be one of my advantages, because I aim to create a great user experience.

Also I will offer some product mixes they can only buy from me in this constellation.

Price will not be my point because I don't want to get into a discount fight. My goal is to sell high quality products with a stylish brand for young people at a premium price.

I'm in the food niche so a website application maybe isn't a good fit but a phone app could be.

To personalize my products wouldn't be that effective I think or would you buy a peronalized meal with your initials on it?

May I suggest a valuable exercise...Take out a piece of paper or WORD doc...List 1-20 and describe your perfect customer/reader. Sex, age, lifestyle( college/young professional. mommy raising children), any special diet ( vegan)?, music preference( favorite artist), clothing likes ..etc you got the picture. The more detailed you are the more you can figure out how to make the website unique, finding your customer on social media & affiliate programs that will resonate with your reader.

I think this could be the key. If I know EXACTLY to who I am selling I can laser target my marketing. That's marketing 101: Define your target group, should have come to my mind earlier ;-)

Could you emphasize on a general need and add some marketing for the perfect recipe?
