Hello! I've been very excited about my little drop-shipping business, but also a bit impatient.

I've begun doing some SEO on my website, and eBay auctions in the interim. With eBay, I have had some sales, but am trying to find strategies to work around my suppliers shipping costs. Also, it seems like, sometimes I post an item and a bunch of them sell, and the next time, an even better deal, and NOTHING. Is that just how it is?

So I guess my additional questions are- Does it just take some time? I've had the website up for a couple weeks with no orders, only eBay. Has anybody seen good results with SEO after waiting awhile? I advertise on social networks like mad, and have posted coupons.

Not sure what else to ask. Any input would be wonderful!!!!!

I have an ecomerce site to with my own line of fishing lures and notice the very same thing at times. Things will be hot for a couple of weeks non stop and a few hundred dollars are sold in lures or even 1000 bucks then all of a sudden a 2-3 week drought then things are great for a month then another drought. In my regular sales job i notice ups and downs every few months as well but im a noob when it comes to ecomerce

If you were talking about old school "offpage SEO" it is very easy to mess that stuff up, and can have devastating effects on your website if Google doesn't like your style.

On Page SEO is absolutely necessary, but relying on search engines is a horrible way to build a business that relies on stock, especially if the stock can become too old to sell. I have had a few shirt that sold well for a while so I kept reinvesting my money (and storage space) back into buying more stock. Now I have a couple hundred of the shirts, and now I no longer get visitors to that page. This happens a lot of you rely on search engines.

Search engines operate in waves, one part of your website will get all your visitors for a time, then another etc, until eventually it repeats the cycle.

You need to get into adwords and other advertising, they are the key to consistent sales, but it takes a lot of work to make it profitable.

Why not split it in two parts and advertise one on the other?
