Would dropshipping be viable for my growing site?

Just to give a quick note on what I have, I started a site/blog in the e-cigarette niche a little over a year and it's the best site I've had to date. For the past two months I've consistently had over 1k visitors and I haven't posted an article since February and I think I only have a total of about 13 articles in all posted.

I'm a member of some affiliate programs, and I've made a whopping $3.31 in sales, but that is due to my lack of effort not the affiliates products.

I'm just seeking the advice from the people that have been where I am now. Would dropshipping be viable or should I get busy and post content? How is the learning curve with dropshipping?

I'm a total newb when it comes to this and I'm searching for my way in making money on the internet, I don't want to close off any avenues of a possible income stream.

I'm vaguely familiar with the concept of what is involved with this business model. So any advice and/or resources you'd be willing to share I'd be greatly appreciative.

Thank you in advance

I have a different perspective about this....

There seems to be a misconception that writing articles = sales. I am not convinced this is usually true - although it could be in some specific cases. And even in cases where article writing does work, Google could change their algorithm suddenly and it may not work any longer. It seems too unreliable and inconsistent to rely on.

IMO content writing should be down the ladder as far as traffic sources. PPC, Email Social, Display and some others will be more consistent and effective.

As far as drop shipping you need a good niche (that isn't saturated), a good supplier( that allows good margins) and good traffic to your site. Those are the hard parts. The rest is easy especially if your margins are good.

Also I am not sure if eCigs are a good niche for a beginner. Its VERY VERY saturated and competitive now. 3-4 years ago it was wide open but unless you focus on a sub-niche it will be tough.

You chose a pretty good niche, especially pertaining to a year+ ago.
The market is very saturated now though. It is not something to wait on because it is competitive and I'm already noticing 3-4 in stores now when last year there might have been 1 available.

Get some more blogs geared towards a good product or company with excellent margins. Don't make it sound like a sales pitch but get them interested and curious in it. Link it at the bottom.

Research and educate yourself as much as possible, especially before drop shipping.

Thank you so mulch to everyone that has responded so far. Excellent advice and I agree the shops are popping up all over the place. Even in my little town I have 3 shops that I can go to. The only thing I've noticed with these shops is they tend to cost more than a ecommerce site but when a Peron is out if juice they will pay the price to feed the nicotine addiction I know this first hand.

I'll beat this dead horse until I find out if this the right thing for me. Thank you again
