Question about Amazon Affiliate Program

So I heard that if you're an affiliate on the american website you have to promote products from amazon.com, if you're an affiliate of the Canadian store you have to promote products from amazon.ca, etc.

However, I've heard that there's a wordpress plugin that acts as a link globalizer for amazon stores. So if a user tries to purchase an item from amazon.com (and they are outside the US), they are redirected to the same item from their own store.

How does this work when crediting your account? Are you credited through your american associates account, even if the customer purchases the item from a different area store? (ex. amazon.ca)

I'm very confused.

I don't have experience with that particular plugin, but I had to apply to and get accepted to the various countries' Amazon affiliates programs separately.

When I direct a user to amazon.ca, I give them my Canadian tag, when I direct them to amazon.co.uk, my UK one, etc. At the end of the month I get a nice fat direct deposit from Amazon.com (I live in the US) and much, much smaller checks mailed to me from Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.uk for the sales I generated on those sites.

I'm guessing what the plugin does is direct where the user is located and sends them to the correct Amazon site -- but the process I described above is how you'll actually get paid.

On a side note, having talked to some of my Canadian customers, I know that a lot of them also like to buy from the US Amazon site as there is often more selection and products are cheaper. I give users in Canada a choice as to which store they want to buy from -- not sure how the plugin works, but you might check to see if this is possible.

This looks like a life saver. Do you know if this works on ads on pages, as well as posts? In addition to adding links to my posts, I'm also considering adding some promotional ads on the side of my page.

Exactly what I'm trying to do! Thank you for your input.

Upon a second look, it seems like that plugin takes some of your earnings without even telling you up front.

Any feedback on EasyAzon? I heard it was great, despite the price.

EasyAzon is quite a good plugin and it enables link localization for any country Amazon has an affiliate program in. I also like a new Xenia Amazon plugin for WP that has all necessary features. You can join its Amazon Affiliate Club for free to get more details.
