Decreasing ecommerce site speed

Hi To All Warriors,

Recently I have launched my Social Shopping site Etoot Social Shopping. Its page loading time is about 18 to 19 seconds. This high loading time is killing all of my initial traffic and conversions. So I want to decrease it to 2 to 3 seconds which is the optimal loading time for any eCommerce site.

How can I do that ?

Any tips & guidance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,

Hi there. If you could get your site in the 2 to 3 second range that would be great.

To do that here are a couple of things you should look for.

Use a service like gtmetrix.com to run a speed test on your site. It will spit out a detailed summary of all of the files that load with your site, and how long each takes to load.

Look for large images. You should be able to reduce anything above about 50 to 75k.

Look for uncompressed js and css files. You want minified files if you can.

Look for third party components that might be pulling data from other sources. Eliminate them or figure out how to speed them up.

There are more things to try, but this is a good start.

    Hope it helps.

I have seen research that shows for each second increase in page load time - conversions drop 10%. Under 5 seconds is good- Under 3 is excellent.

I looked at your site and found the load times acceptable.

However there are several other issues that need to be corrected. You should really think about hiring a professional designer. The design you are using is VERY confusing and I am not sure what the purpose of the site is. Its very unusual and difficult to decipher.

As we all know website speed has a huge effect on SEO. To speed up the website you have to take care of few things of your website:
        1. Use caching method to speed up page display.
        2. Don't use nested tables.
        3. Use inline styles.
        4. Reduce so many CSS files ( not more than 4)
        5. Reduce JaveScript files (not more than 7)
        6. Use Gzip

Are you confident it's your site and not your hosting company? If so, then follow the advice above and get your CSS, Javascript files etc hosted elsewhere. There are loads of options available.
