Starting Up My First Niche Store Website

Ok, so I have gotten in touch with a manufacturer of the product I want to sell. I had to give them my retail sales permit and I am awaiting a response. They are actually here in the United States. I am going to be looking for more of course, because I don't want to rely on just one, but in the mean time, I need to find some drop shippers.

I need to start with drop shipping until I have enough funding to make my first small bulk purchase. I know buying wholesale has better profit margins than drop shipping, but right now I can't even afford small bulk purchases, so I have to start with drop shipping.

In the mean time, I am going to look into setting up a niche website for what I have researched and feel is a good product to sell. I have some drop ship connections in China that will supply my product until I am able to make a small bulk purchase.

Because of the increased shipping time coming from China, I really don't feel like eBay/Amazon is a good place for my products. If I am wrong, someone please correct me, but I don't think eBay/Amazon buyers want to wait 15-20 days to receive their product.

This is the main reason I chose to do a standalone niche store website, because I can set the expectations and lay them out for my customer more clearly before they make a purchase, and once I am able to make that first small bulk purchase, the shipping speed will only improve from there, so my customers will at some point get a free upgrade on faster shipping.

I could be approaching this all wrong, but I am very confident in my business plan. I wanted to run it by you warriors and see if anyone has any constructive criticism/feedback available.
