How do eBay sellers list thousand of items

Could anyone shed any light on how some sellers list thousands of eBay items. Since they list so many items my guess is they dropship.

Do these sellers simply spend hours creating each listing.

Are dates available for when they were posted? They may have used previous listing information from other sellers or have people working with them to get them posted.

    Thanks Jay

Also having 2,000 plus listings must be a headache keeping track of the dropshippers inventory. I can only assume they outsource all this tedious work.

It is easy. I do not sell on ebay much anymore, but do on other marketplaces. When I did sell on ebay, what you do is take product datafeed from the dropshipper (hopefully they have one that contains photo links, product descriptions...etc, if not, find another dropshipper), you convert the datafeed into a format acceptable to ebay. You upload this new feed to ebay and poof, all those listings are live on ebay.

      BUT.........

Since your dropshippers inventory changes all the time, you need to make another file to upload inventory changes to ebay. It is easy to do. You make one for each dropshipper you deal with. Use excel VLOOKUP to compare and change the inventory counts, and upload this file to ebay. The next day you get another updated inventory count datafeed, you do it again.

      BUT........

Lets say today, you have 10 widgets on ebay. You paid say .25 cents to list this item on ebay. Now tomorrow those widgets are sold out, so you close the listing on ebay. You just lost your listing fee. Now the next day your dropshipper gets more inventory, you relist the item and pay another .25 cents listing fee. If you do this on hundreds of items, it can cost a lot of money in listing fees.

If you want to play the dropship game, do not do it on ebay. Do it on amazon, or some other marketplace that does not have these types of fees

Cheers Max for your detailed reply. Can the same automatic method using files be used for Amazon?

I have thousands of products on ebay and I listed each one, one at a time, myself. I'm told when speaking with someone in ebay about something else that everyone big in my category is a drop shipper....but I am not. I have possession of each of my products.

  • It can be done a number of ways, but one easy way is to do it through the FREE Turbo Lister 2 software.

Not only can you list/upload eBay listings from there, but you can also spin them from the tool.

    Enjoy!

This is only available for PCs, though. For a MAC, you can utilize the program iSale, but there is a fee for the service.

    Enjoy!
