Hi,

I live in Europe and am considering selling products via Amazon FBA. Is that possible, and are there any concerns (taxes, customs, etc.) I should be aware of when sending products to the US?

Any experience?

Thanks.
Thomas

Hi Thomas, I'm from Brazil and have all the same doubts that you have. I have the suppliers but I dont understand what I can do about customs, taxes, etc. How am I going to be notified to pay the customs? Please, some one with experience could explain to us?

I think without a US subsidiary, your main problem will be customs/taxes.It's absolutely possible to use FBA in multiple countries but you will need to account for the above by studying the duties applicable to your products in detail.

Thanks. I'm considering amazon.co.uk, but it seems a bit challenging, since when I sign up, I need to confirm that I can deliver invoices, with VAT, etc. in English.
My thought was simply to send the products and let amazon handle that.

Do you know if the customer is technically amazon's or my? I'm asking for accounting/tax purposes.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

Since I live in the US I cannot give any specific details but I do know that it is often done successfully. I know that Jim Cockrum's program and forum can provide details. I would suggest searching this forum for the topic of worldwide selling on Amazon as I believe there is a lot of threads dealing with global sales.

I know a couple of people that sell on Amazon from outside the country. What they all said was the initial setup of Selling on Amazon was a little cumbersome but after that it was all smooth sailing. With any business the beginning is the hardest part but after you implement a couple of systems everything will start to go the way you want it to go.

        Have a look at taxjar.com
They have lots of good info regarding tax and ecommerce with a big focus on amazon. They also have software that takes care of tax depending on state and other variables. I havnt used it but heard good things.

      Hi there,

Is your service available to sellers operating in the Amazon UK,or the other European countries Amazon have marketplaces? Your website does not really elaborate as to which Amazon marketplace they offer fulfilment services to? Bit confused and just wondering?

I haven't looked into this for a while, but a couple of years ago all what was needed was a bank account and a tax id in US. Both can be obtained from overseas.
