I got a response from a seller on ali baba stating:

"The FOB price for (product) is USD($4.40) each. The total price is USD($324) includes shipping cost for 50 units by EMS to Canada."

Apparently I dont want to come off as a newb to them so I am just wondering how do I ask if this shipping is to my house? Or how do I go abouts asking them to ship it to my house?

These (units) are small, like the size of a vitamin pill bottle. So 50 units shouldnt be a huge package by any means.

FOB = price from their office without shipping.

EMS = postal shipping to your business location / house. EMS is usually one of the cheapest shipping methods but has some size restrictions.

So you are paying $4.40 per unit + $104 for shipping.

EMS is a popular shipping option because its easier for the seller to use, and they come to pick up the items, and they have a pretty smart pricing plan for weight - it's not rarely the cheapest - even for businesses. A company that really only prefers to ship via EMS is a sign they don't ship out inventory very much. EMS Typically ships from the seller to your front door.

Before you order in bulk ask for sample. Alibaba is a good source for items but also a good place to con buyers money. And normally they will send you the sample for free, maybe you just pay for the shipping fee that's all.

Ask them any questions even is newb questions. What you want test is their customers service and quality of products.

As newbieleoling said, if this is the first time you're buying from them, ask for a sample first.
How are you going to pay them? Money transfer or Paypal? Paypal is safer for you if they accept it.

Also consider hiring an agent to handle this deal for you. They don't cost much and can be very helpful. I can refer you to my agent if you need one.

One of the reasons many people complain that they don't get any response when they contact suppliers overseas is that they make it obvious that they are newbies.

Asking newbie questions is a bad idea, and asking for a free sample is even worse.

Alibaba has a huge list of suppliers but as you say there are plenty of people there who will con you.

Are you aware that the great majority of suppliers listed on Alibaba as manufacturers are traders or agents falsely claiming to be manufacturers? The same applies on most of the popular sourcing sites.

You can't get the best prices unless you go direct to genuine manufacturers.

    Hi,

If the supplier doesn't have a sample or if you dont want to spend in shipping and waiting you can have a local agent go to their factory and check the goods for your and make a report

    Hope it helps
