Uncle Sam, Licenses, Craigslist.

I'm starting to get into this ecommerce thing and with the help of a couple people, I feel like I'm getting a better grasp at a bigger picture when it comes to sales.

However, I am curious, if I'm starting off by just flipping things off of Craigslist to resell on eBay.. these things being couple hundred dollars of profit, do I need to have a reseller's license for those goods?

When is it appropriate to finally go down to the office and get the license?

That would depend on your local laws. Like on state, county and local level. It would be good to get a vendors license and then you can purchase things for resale and be tax exempt. I guess it just depends on how much volume you plan to do.

If your just flipping stuff from Craigslist you won't need it. But as you buy more and more and find different ways of buying stuff you will probably need a resellers permit.

You'll need one if you plan on setting up accounts with real suppliers.
