They are not CMS, they are Carts, very important difference. You choose by revenue and how much effort, so Prestashop/Shopify/osCommerce are Nano Enteprise (sub $200,000 revenue per year), Magento CE is Micro Enteprise (sub $3mil per year). Once you try and take the platform above that it will work against you, so you need to have some serious knowledge, the better the platform the more growth you can get out of it but the more it costs to implement. It's really as simple and as complex as that.

Please cite evidence for this statement.

Magento is the #1 Cart among the Top 500 Online retailers. And the difference between Magento CE and Enterprise is minimal and mainly relates to tech support.

How would Magento CE work agaisnt a $3.1 million business? Please explain.

    Hi buncaila..,

Unfortunately its a bit like saying whats the best car available

Can you be a bit more specific about your needs?

I have used Magento, opencart, Wordpress, oscommerce but my favorite is Drupal...

Drupal is not the easiest to use, but I have found it very flexible. I have created over 100 websites using Drupal with 10+ ecommerce websites that all seem to be doing well.

A few questions that may help us give you better advice...

How many products will your site have?
Who will administer the backend ?
What payment gateway will you be using?

    Just for starters...

    Hoping to help.

    Regards

    Steve

Help with website setup. Website hosting with unmetered traffic and space. Most popular CMS one-click installs include WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Opencart, Zen Cart, Backdrop CMS etc...

@kjamesnv in the end there is no point - you must be a Magento service provider or work for eBay. Multi-national consultants with chargeouts of $2-4,000/day working with platforms from Magento to SAP with companies like L'Oreal based on information from Alexa, Forrester, Gartner.

Even Toms, a Magento reference site, supposedly just moved to ATG. You should check out Builtwith, Magento has 10% of the top 10,000 websites, if you get to the top few hundred there are but a handful - this was even stated by a Magento employee recently.

Always fascinating how mis-information is spread by further mis-information and then becomes fact even though it incorrect - so where is your Top 500 online retailers information.

Magento has its place, just like Prestashop, WooCommerce, ATG and the rest, the problem is that retailers are now seeing through the upselling techniques employed by providers - back to Toms.
