Recently I've been looking into buying wholesale stock to sell on ebay/amazon and elsewhere. Are there any specific products that are in demand on these websites? I thought iphone cases/mobile accessories might be a good place to start out as they are relatively cheap to buy. Any advice to a wholesale newbie would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I can't advise you on choosing what products to sell, but I have some advice about where to buy and where not to buy.

If you buy from wholesalers you have lost a good part of your potential profit margin. It is far, far, more profitable to buy direct from the actual manufacturers.

As a newbie you will find it near impossible to buy direct from manufacturers locally , so you should consider buying your stock overseas. China is by far the most popular place to look, but excellent products and high profit margins can be found in many overseas countries.

I suggest that you forget about sourcing the products until you have found ones that you know you can sell, you know how much you can sell them for, and you know all your selling costs such as eBay, Amazon, PayPal postage etc. I recommend Auctiondebteliminator for sound advice on that topic.

Thanks, made things a lot clearer for me. Are there any websites that you'd recommend to buy stock from?

I recommend only a few safe B2B sourcing sites, but I don't publish them online because I don't want newbies starting to look for suppliers until they know the basics.

If you have a look at my thread If your secret B2B portals are so safe why don't you share? you will find the reasons in more detail and you will also find some very helpful information.

Checked out the thread, some really good advice in there.

Also, I have quite good knowledge on perfume and the kind of prices they go for, which comes from building up my own fragrance collection. I'm aware of the different price levels and I would be able to make a good price estimate on a bottle (prior to market research). Do you think this would be a good place to start researching?

          Thanks again!

I am not an expert in online marketing so I am not the one to ask about which products to choose for sale.

I suggest you look for posts by Auctiondebteliminator, who gives excellent advice on the subject of product selection.

Once you know what product you can sell, at what price and what your selling costs are, then my book will help you find those products at best prices from genuine manufacturers.
