Hi,

I'm interested in building a wordpress website and then adding amazon products to it to make it look like a store. I just wasn't sure if this violated any of amazon's affiliate policies. I've heard of people being de-indexed from doing this. I also wasn't sure if it's a legitimate way to make money. Also, is anyone aware of any free plug ins that let people check out directly on your webpage.

One of the best and most well-known ways of actually doing this is through affiliate selling.

Another option is building yourself a standalone store (with WordPress or another shopping cart platform) and then integrating it with an Amazon account, for what's known as multi-channel selling. Incidentally, this is what Solid Commerce helps sellers with - we synchronize sellers' inventory when they're selling across multiple channels so that, if we were using this hypothetical example, SC would make sure your Amazon store's inventory reflects items that have been bought from your standalone store, and vice-versa. To prevent overselling, stuff like that.

Either way, you've got a few great options available when it comes to leveraging WordPress and Amazon at the same time, whether you use something like WordPress, the Amazon Affiliate Network, or something else.

The only Amazon affiliate sites being indexed are 'thin affiliate' sites or ones that don't include much additional info beyond what you can find on the original Amazon site. For instance, if you include unique reviews, how to articles and tutorials on how to use the products you are selling (via Amazon), you should not have any fear of being de-indexed. And, from what I know it's not against TOS to have an Amazon affiliate store.

Having affiliate sites selling Amazon products is allowed. The only time Google may de-index your website is if you copy another website. But if you have your own wordpress site as you said you are doing, I don't see why you should be de-indexed.
