How Do I Track Where My Opt-Ins Are Coming From?

If I am running Facebook traffic to an opt-in form on one of my e-commerce pages, how do I separate the opt-ins from that traffic as opposed to any other traffic that subscribes on that page?

Just 'Create' separate Lists at your Autoresponder Service which will create separate Sq.Pages/Optins for each traffic source.

But I have multiple traffic sources visiting the page and signing up. If I only have 1 form on that page, they all go to the same list. So how would you send different traffic sources each to a different list?

You can use a program like my boss click to create multiple links the the same url. It gives you the option to add a tracker code to the end of each link you create. So to track each traffic source your tracker code could be the name of the source (example if you used facebook as a source then one of your links could end with facebook). It'll keep track of all the clicks you generate as well as the IP address (if you needed that).

Purely for tracking purposes you can use google analytic on your e-commerce page.

If you want to split leads from different traffic sources to different lists, than you have to direct those sources to different pages.

Try creating links for different traffic methods. You can use hypertracker or my click boss for this.

Can't this referral data be recorded using Google Analytics to see where the person came from once they enter their email addy in the form?

I setup goals in GA, and yes once someone subscribers I know the source (e.g. from warrior forum and exactly which page). I do the same thing for sales to know which source brought me customers.

I would have to agree with @Jack Sarlo .. as I think this is the proper way. It seems there are different ways you could "manipulate the system". The solid decision long term I believe lies in Jacks answer.

Success to you and great question!

Thanks Jack. I'm not an expert on GA...is their a guide to show me how to do this?

And BTW...I'm using pop up squeeze pages where you have to insert a pixel in a certain field of the popup creation form that acts as the TY page to fire that pixel. Does it seem like this GA method still work with this software?
