What should I say (or sell!) on my thank you page?

Hi all,

My thank you page currently just says "thank you" and then directs people to the homepage where they can "check out our latest posts".

I feel like I may be missing an opportunity to monetise an audience that are engaged enough to sign up to my list. But I'm not sure how I'd do that.

I have an ebook, but I give that away to new subscribers anyway, so I can't sell that on the thank you page.

I'm also an Amazon affiliate. But I'm not sure that trying to sell people a product from Amazon as soon as they sign up is the right thing to do.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Adam

You do not neccessarily have to sell something on your "thak you page" If you have another site, maybe a blog that talks about something else you may as well create a link to that site from the thank you page.

For myself, I use the thank you page to give clear instructions, both in words and in pictures, on what subscribers (two groups: "gmail users" and "others") need to do, themselves, in order to be sure of receiving my emails in their in-boxes. Without doing this, my open-rates are significantly lower - and I certainly don't want anything else distracting from that, because it's what the bulk of my future income depends on, and long-term future income is the whole point of building the list in the first place?

I suspect there's quite a bit of misguided thinking about, on this subject.

It's worth bearing in mind that it's possible to make the occasional quick sale that way and still lose a lot of money overall.

Here's the key concept: the few people who will buy anything, that way, are all people who would have bought it in a week's time anyway, after receiving some email from you, so there's no real gain. But many other people, who would otherwise have bought it a week or two later, will be alienated by it, because of course it makes you look like "just another marketer", so if I did that, I'd expect a much lower open-rate for my emails than I actually get.

I agree; I think that's putting it mildly, myself.

Right after the opt-in, I promote nothing. For me, it would be a big mistake to do that.

As people who have split-tested it themselves tend to have discovered (and we tend to be the ones who quickly abandon the idea, once we've thoroughly tested it for ourselves. )

Selling at your thank you page is not a good idea.

In fact, it is not a healthy thing to do with a person who just signed up with you. How'd you feel if your local retail store starts selling you right in the parking area without giving you the option to go into the store?

DO NOT Sell anything on the thank you page.

I actually don't sell anything for 3-4 days depending on my funnel.

Give the ebook away and follow up with more high quality content.

Focus on getting the next email opened because of the incredible value you handed out in the ebook.

    Build trust and respect.

Everyone pitches. Teach. Inform. Motivate. Then you can sell and you will make a lot more money.

    Good luck!

You could add an OTO or two. Maybe add some bonuses packaged out of PLR or whatever. My two cents.

    Cheers,
