Double or Single Opt In ... What do you do?

Quick question guys

I use Aweber who insist on double opt in. However I notice other service providers such as Infusionsoft etc do not.

So you can opt in to watch a video and don't get the click the link in my email message.

Which method do you use and why?

If you are doing a single opt in method on Aweber how does this work.

    Double opt-in. If they want in, it's no problem for them, and you end up with a list of higher quality. The key is to run a quality list and give people the goods: something they really want and/ or need.

      I have tested it with building lists of both single and double opt in with an A/B split test.

      It was not an exstensive test I only went until each list had a min of 1,000 subs.

      Then I continued to build in that market on a separate list and kept these 2 for testing.

      The results were:

      The double opt in cost me .09 cents more per confirmed sub than the single opt in.
      The single opt lost 22% more subs due to un subs than the double opt over 6 months.
      The open rate for the double opt was always ranging around 30% higher than the single opt.
      And, at the end of 6 months the double opt had earned me a little more than 55% more revenue than did the single opt.

      I have done this in other niches as well and the double opt has outperformed the single opt on each occasion.

      This niche was NOT MMO.

          Thank you Bernard.

          The other thing to note is that I don't beat up my lists. I treat them as I would want to bea treated. It works well as they are humans too, not just a $ sign.

          What I mean by this is; I don't mail them on products I don't use or have not tested or at least read.

          I have an MMO list too. And as an example: I review a product before recommending it. I put the product into action or on most occasions I know it's crap so I don't mail on it.

          If the product is legit, the creator has a great rep, and the sales copy tells the truth I'll mail on it.

          When I'm not mailing an offer I give them massive amounts of info for free.

          I've already recieved 2 Christmas cards from people on my lists from different niches. As Christmas nears I'll recieve many more if last years example holds again this year.

          My point is; treat people better than you would hope to be treated. Then when you do mail an offer they buy with confidence and your returns are nil.

            I use single opt-in (as do the great majority of marketers I know to be successful.)

            I started off using opt-in confirmation, and benefited significantly (in all my niches) by switching to single opt-in.

    I am currently using single opt in and I noticed a lot of my emails are going to the spam box. Could this have something to do with it?
