New to Warrior - Monetizing a List of 100,000

Hi Warriors,

Thanks for checking out this post. I'm very new to email marketing and I'm looking for a few strategies to monetize an email list of 100,000 Canadians interested in travel and luxury products. The list has been generated by my company over the last 3-4 years through contest entries and promotions. Is an affiliate campaign the best way to make money on this? Does anyone have any experience generating leads for companies independently of an affiliate site?

Let's say I knew a travel agency that specialized in high-end vacations. Would it be effective to send out info/pictures of an exclusive travel package and then request information of interested recipients? Can I then just sell this list to the travel agent?

Thanks a bunch.

How was your list built ? Is it 100% Opt in ? If not than you can get a lot of spam complaints. My recommendation would be to study your niche, and from their try and provide a solution to them based on their interests.

Make yourself available to be contacted & answer EVERY, SINGLE, QUESTIONS that you re asked.

Start solving peoples problems, a solution to a problem can be monetised by recommending a product or service that you provide.

Its all about customer service. the money you make will be a reflection of the service 7 value you provide the market.

Hi, I have seen this post before in the past, I am not sure its legit. It seems familiar that's all because I helped someone out with it, only to find the emails where spam...be careful.

Thanks guys. It was all opt-in and generated from contest and promotions. The main challenge I'm having is that we don't actually provide a product...we are magazine publishing agency that works with luxury travel/home decor companies. I'm not sure if a list of 100,000 is enough to do any sort of affiliate sales. Because we are a magazine that touches on a variety of topics, we don't exactly have a niche.

Let's say I had an arrangement with a travel company for a 7% commission on any sales. Is a list of 100,000 going to generate enough conversions to make it worth it? I imagine it's going to be hard for anyone to answer these questions without knowing more details.

      Probably.

It depends on quite a few factors (including, particularly, "subscriber demographics").

The main reason I dropped out of promoting travel, myself, many years ago, was "payment difficulties". So many people don't book online, with an affiliate-cookie which earns the referring affiliate a commission, but want the security of using the phone and speaking with a "real person" before they actually pay anything, and when that happens, you very often don't earn anything from it. It seems to me to be a market full of sometimes insuperable issues of payment reliability, from the affiliate perspective.

That is quite an investment your company has made in building that list. That is a very specialized niche. I would be careful to not turn and burn the list by sending them offers. If it was me I would make an introduction and send some email that was of value. I would take a survey and see what the list is looking for. One good way to monetize the list is send offers of travel to places that people are looking to go in the next 6-12 months. I would provide additional value by sending them information about things to do and interesting facts and history of different places that people have shown interest in.

A list that big is a gold mine. I can tell you that I have been on lists that have offered value over a period of time and recently started blowing up my email with offers. The offers that are being sent to my email box do not have the value and the integrity is gone because I have not been getting the value packed emails I was accustomed to getting.

The relationship with your list is everything.
Thank you for the thought provoking post...Have a super day..Bill
