How Can You Sell Over And Over Again In Weight Loss Niche?

You always hear that "money is in the list". My niche is weight loss. So what if I build a huge list then recommend them to buy my recommendation on the best weight loss program ever. Say they buy it and they lose weight? I can no longer sell them anything.

Also after I recommend that product how can I recommend another weight loss product when the first one was suppose to be the best?

I guess you can sell some supplements and stuff but I am just wondering how limiting this is going to be. What other things could I sell in this niche?

    Why question the what if before you have even got it done? Work on optimizing your sales funnel, making it profitable or to at least be to break even on every spend, then think about how else you can help them.

    They might even come to you once you build authority (the guy who knows what he's talking about) and go from there. Look at what your competitors are doing too, but don't question the what if's because that's only going to slow down your progress.

    Get it done, then come back to things like this later...

    2 things that show me you're not in the correct mindset to be trying to run a business.

    1. Weight Loss is not a niche:

    niche(N.)- a specialized but profitable corner of the market.(My own emphasis added)

    Weight loss is so broad that [insert fat joke here].

    2. You can't think of anything to sell to people who have lost weight? Really? Does the weight stay off forever? Does someone who makes the decision for a healthy lifestyle lose the fat and not do anything to move their physical health forward in any other way?

    I'm sure you're a great person who intends to do well; but this isn't how business works at all...

      Another mistake you seem to making in your thinking is assuming that an email list is like a TV commercial, in that the communication only goes one way.

      It's not. Unless you specifically takes steps to prevent it, if you can email them, they can email you back. Or post comments on a blog post. Or a Facebook page. Or a Twitter feed. Or...

      Once they've bought the program, find a way to move them onto a buyers list. If it's your program, it's easy. If your an affiliate (as I suspect), offer a bonus for buying through your link, like a "free membership" to a support group (aka, your buyers list). Do it right, and those people will tell you what to offer them next. And how to offer it to them.

      Of course, that assumes you actually are familiar with the program you're promoting. If you just picked something off of Clickbank because you like the payout, throwing mud against the wall with little thought is as good a plan as any...

      You make some good points but I do not appreciate the tone. Actually I am in a very good mind set to be running a business, as I have brought up a very successful business on my own, from scratch. Something I doubt you can say you do, so do not assume things on here. Since I have capital from that business I want to get into email marketing for diversification purposes.

      I am asking this question after reading a comment by Alexa in this thread where she says that once you solve the customers problem then they are gone.

        I've been wrong before, so feel free to prove I am now. On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog. No one. I can tell you I'm a billionaire with no consequences.

        The world isn't populated by people who have one problem that is solved by one purchase and they're good forever.

    Not everyone makes a purchase of the product you send to them. I did A/B test like the following:

    list 1 was mailed once per week, 4 different offers.
    list 2 was mailed every day, 30 times in a month.

    Over 3 months, I made WAY more money mailing every single day, then just once per week. I thought I would have killed the list, but people just kept buying.

      That, in itself, isn't going to be a problem for you in the weight-loss markets, because (excluding bariatric surgery) the proportion of dieters who ever achieve and maintain any significant degree of weight loss is always said to be less than 1% of those who try, anyway.

      I have to say that I agree entirely with John's post above (#4), though.

    Don't build a weight loss list. Build a health list - then you can promote:

    - back pain
    - blood pressure
    - paleo/low carb
    - cook books
    - anti-aging
    - supplements
    etc..
    etc..
    etc..
    etc..

    Of course promote quality stuff and things you're willing to put your name behind. If you promote something crappy you will get unsubscribes from the buyers.

    Health is wide open just find the quality stuff. Avoid CPA offers and if you go the eBook route on ClickBank make sure you're selecting good stuff.

    You can also just drive traffic straight to articles on your blogs - if you have articles that convert well or pages optimized for high CTR on ads even your "content" emails can bring in some money.

    Run a poll and ask your subscribers what other information or things they are interested in. Offer an incentive or some kind bonus to encourage them to take the pull and to answer your questions.

    As John mentioned earlier in this thread the communication with your subscribers doesn't have to be one sided.

      I just wanna share this.

      In my curiosity a few months back, I subscribed to the mailing list of the #1 best selling weight loss product vendor in Clickbank. You know who that is.

      After receiving the newsletter promoting his own product, he started to promote other products to me.

      Yeah. He promoted other weight loss Clickbank product to me, even after promoting his own product.

      The lesson to be taken is, if someone who is crushing it on clickbank do this, why would we not?

      Perhaps, some people just don't click with one solution. Perhaps, some people need more than one product to be able to come out with their own solution to get rid of their fats.

      The thing is we do not stop promoting just because someone buys. It's important to know that buyers are buyers are buyers are buyers.......

    I was just thinking the same thing myself about how to sell over and over again in the weight loss niche and I saw this thread. Whats interesting is its sort of like the make money online niche. You have people constantly selling new make money offers all the time to the same email lists. My guess is that they know people bought a product and it didnt work from them so they are now looking for something else.

    I guess this could be applied to the weight loss niche. Someone will by this great diet product and find that it doesnt work as fast as they would like so they by another and another.

    But I like the idea that someone mentioned above. Subscribe to someone else weight loss email list and see the products he/she promotes. Then you could examine the emails and products and try and sell them to your list.

      An interesting question and also a good link to Alexa's thread. As has already been mentioned, the first key is that most of the buyers won't put anything into action, or won't put it into action long enough for it to take effect, and the weight won't stay off forever.

      I really respect Alexa's posts and I sit on the middle with her statement about someone leaving if you solve their problem because in theory I agree with it, but in practice I don't.

      Everybody has more than one issue they need to be solved, often that issue cannot be fixed in one go and you can help them in more than one way. You need to look outside the box a bit more.

      For example, if you're selling weight-loss to brides to be then you're looking for women who want to lose weight over a short period of time for a specific event where they want to fit into a certain dress.

      That is very focused.

      You sell them a product that allows them to do that. However, they're also planning a wedding so they will be in the market for things that help them plan weddings, florists in their area, how to find the perfect venue etc...

      Once their wedding is over, and if you've asked them the date of their wedding when you first asked them how fast they needed to lose weight you can send them a congratulations email, then they probably would like to keep the weight off.

      That will require another program and that program may require certain food types to be eaten which will mean cookbooks. They will also want to be kept interested in their exercise program which means it may need to be changed and so they need to join a subscription program where they get new routines and can chat with others about it.

      And so it goes on...

    Narrow down. Think of a group of people instead of a category. For example, moms who just had a kid. You can help them lose weight, prepare for parenting, make sure their husbands still feel wanted, start a trust or college fund, etc. There are endless problems they'll need help with for years and you could be the go to source for helping them. Regarding just 'losing weight' People who just finished a diet need mental support for not relapsing, new healthy recipes to spice things up, etc.

    Btw, click bank vendors seem to be very good at the cb game, but not necessarily the best models to follow for long term growth. There are certainly exceptions, but poke your head around outside that marketplace. Find communities you can help, groups you can become a leader in.

    The very fact that you claim to be in the weight loss niche, yet ask this question, shows us that you know nothing about your market.

    Weight loss is - for most people who need it - a lifelong struggle. It requires dedication and lots of support.

    In addition to subscribing to CB marketers, I would suggest subscribing to some less marketing-oriented newsletters like Calorie Count or MyFitnessPal. See how they understand their customers.

    It seems like you have a long way to go speak the language of your market. Before you waste too much time trying to sell them things, I would invest some effort in getting to know them.

        ah, but I never claimed that weight loss was my niche, or that I was any type of expert.

        But, since you seem so interested, I do have some relevant experience. I have lost 100 pounds and kept it off (most of it, anyway).

        I know firsthand the struggles and needs of your market.

        And I would not buy anything recommended by someone who thinks there is some such thing a "the best weight loss product ever" that will eliminate someone's weight problems. That is just insulting.

        Tell me you understand me by showing empathy with my journey, and making suggestions to help me get closer to my goals.

        You might not get the "shock and awe" sales with that approach, but you should be able to live with yourself better by not preying on the weaknesses of insecure fat people.

        And you might just come out way ahead in the long term by building a sustainable relationship with your list (if you don't screw it up).

        With your current attitude, though, my money is on you screwing it up.

    You could market a different weight loss option to help them keep the weight off. You can package a different product differently so that it fits certain people with a certain lifestyle as well.

      I think the issue of the OP is how can you continue to offer weight loss products to people who you already promoted "the best weight loss program ever". I think thats why its important not to promote your product as the "best ever" but focus on the issue that is most relevant.

      So instead of saying this:
      "The best weightloss program ever"

      Say this:
      Email 1: Drop x dress sizes in x days
      Email 2: Simplest weight loss program
      Email 3: Nothing works for everyone but this is tailored for you...
      Email 4: My buddy has been struggling for years until he showed me this...

      I guess if you approach it like the make money from home niche which is always emailing a different product that will be THE product then you could make it work.
