Learn from my Pastor of what NOT to do in Email Marketing !

Well, let me preface this by saying to a certain degree you can learn from my Pastor of what NOT to do in Email Marketing.

In a roundabout way I might add

This past Sunday we went to our usual sunday school and regular Worship Service.

We have been going to this Church for a year now. And we love it. The people are great, the child care and Sunday School is amazing for our kids.

But one thing that kind of bugs me and my wife is our Minister. He is a good guy. Don't get me wrong. Really nice.

But quite frankly he is totally inept in being able to engage with his Congregation during the Sermon.

The reason ? He just cannot or does not want to master the craft of Story Telling. And good Story Telling that the members of the Church can understand and relate to.

His Sermons are bland and the pews are literally about 25% filled. And dammit, if I hear one more Story about Paul and the Corinthians and how these early Biblical figures relate to us..well I think I am going to scream and pull my hair out

Every now and then he will BEGIN to talk about a memory of his childhood or wife but just as it starts to get interesting he will pause and get back to the same old boring theological diatribe that has caused the Church pews to literally be turned into a heaping ghost town

So guys in your emails learn to tell fun, interesting, captivating stories and learn how to make your own experiences 'relatable' to your Subs.

Learning to do this will carry you far in List Building

And just please, please don't pull a Pastor John on them lol

      Reminds me of a story...

The rural pastor was in the habit of using the whistle of a passing train to remind him to wrap up his sermon.

One week, as he scanned the congregation, he noticed one old boy who normally dozed through the sermon with his eyes closed again. Only this time, he was sitting upright and his lips were moving as if deep in prayer.

After the service, the pastor made a point of talking to the man.

"I noticed that you seemed abnormally taken with my sermon today. Tell me, if you would, what was it about this particular sermon that moved you so?"

"Well, Reverend, I noticed that you tend to talk until the train whistle blows, and last week the train was 30 minutes late. I was just praying for it to be on time this week."
