What's the best Self Hosted Email Autoresponder Software?

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a great self hosted email autoresponder solution. Can you give your best recommendations of ones you have personally used? Please, no promoting of things you haven't used.

I'm looking for a good one that I can use for a 6-figure list.

Thanks!

Following..........I need to know this too.

I've heard about Rapid Mailer but then I found with a simple Google search that it has some really shocking fraudulent complains.

Some one is claiming this as the copy of the original WordPress Newsletter Plugin by Tribulant. (You can find more from the wordpress forum).

But that's just wordpress........I'm pretty sure that our fellow warriors have some great software to share with us.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to email marketing but I'm kind of exploring my options as I'm going to get into it shortly. I hope I get some direction from the thread.

    Thanks OP for the Thread.

I have also found sendy.co very useful and find it easy to use. We also have a client that has been using it for a while and he seems to quite enjoy it as well.

      Best regards,

For what it's worth. I have spent the last 4 years having developers build the perfect autoresponder for me. We are nearly ready to release it to the public (January 2016), but are currently beta testing. Our autoresponder will deliver email, SMS, MMS, and voice broadcast messages through the same message sequence.

If you would be interested in a beta test account to take a test drive and check it out, visit our home page and sign up for the questionnaire.

Check out Mailwizz, it's being sold on codecanyon, it's about the best you can get as you can use it with just about any smtp service. Sendy for instance only allows amazon ses and then you can't send IM related stuff.

If you don't need anything fancy, Sendy works very well. I use it for several of my lists. It works great with Amazon SES. I do wish they had better support for SMTP services though.

I've been using ARP3 and ARPReach for several years, and was really happy until ARPReach replaced ARP3. Several features that were a part of ARP3 were removed or left out of the upgrade, and there have been no solutions offered. For example ARPReach no longer calculates a future date or prior date from the current mailing date. Pretty weak for time limited offers. The looping of autoresponders was also left out, so that now when a user reaches the end of a sequence, you have to have a second copy of the sequence to move them to at the end. Makes it hard to keep sequences coordinated.

Meanwhile I have started looking and found a new feature in Dadamail that is awesome. It's called Magic Template, or something like that. It can be set up to use one of your site pages as an email template. The video tutorial looks simple and really cool. Also, Dada mail is free for small mailers.

Using smtp services is usually going to cost more than using autoresponder services. They all charge per email and they charge a premium (per message) if your sending marketing messages. Where, autoresponder services charge by how many users you have with unlimited sending.

If your list is 100K and you average just one message per day that's 3 million messages. Check how much it costs between smtp VS autoreponder...it's huge!

If you use your own IPs to mail with, then the cost over autoresponders plummets drastically, but you have to do all the work to make sure that your getting good deliverability.

I've been mailing for 15 years and there can be more to it than meets the eye.

Anyway, just some things to consider.

I'm really happy with ARPReach. I have well over 250,00 emails out a week. Been using it for 3 years.

You just have to manage your IP reputation and you'll get similar deliverability to the big boys.

I would recommend picking an AR where u can use your own SMTP or you will be at the mercy of your AR.

For example I have GR an they inbox at around 70% but my own server with my selected 3rd party SMTP inboxes at around 97%. Ontop of that I have much more freedom on what I'm able to promote.

hi, what hosting company do you use for your self-hosted AR? also, do you use multiple IP addresses to get at 97% inbox? thank you

Another vote for arpReach. It has some very intelligent list management features such as triggered actions, tracking tags (to mark the subscriber's optin point), tags (to mark certain demographic or behavioural conditions), segments (dynamic lists of subscribers that meet specific criteria you choose) and custom pages.

All of this means it's highly versatile in terms of the customisation you can do so that it can fit all sorts of businesses, and offer a more unique customer experience.

  • I am using Ariticmail since 2 months, Very satisfied till now. they are self hosted on secure servers and they have a wide range of advance autoresponders. I am into fashion business, run an outlet online. so thanking visiting prospects, reminders, wishing on their birthdays/anniversaries or simple acknowledgements - all is so well taken care of by Ariticmail and they are very easy on your pocket. You should try them.

I was receiving by email messages on best autoresponder topic. Most of people answer about their experiences with third parties and companies, offering the system. I understand that, and in my opinion those users of third parties are bound to those companies, as they don't have any other solution. They pay for the service and with the list growth their fees for those serviecs rapidly grow as well.

But topic is "what is best self hosted email autoresponder"? Third party services are not self-hosted.

Then I tried to search forum for a software that I discovered recently, Mautic. I found only 2 references, and could not believe it. This means majority of people on the forum, do not even use self-hosted software. Everyone get more powerful with self-hosted autoresponder sofware.

Mautic is completely open source and free software. It is easy to install, I tried it myself. It is beautiful, made for those people who already use third party providers.

      Demo is available online: https://www.mautic.org/demo/

Everyone can install it very easy on the VPS or other type of Linux server.

      More about Mautic: https://www.mautic.org/tour/

If I would not have programmed my own piece of software that does the job (and which is ugly but robust), I would be using Mautic.

I am not sure if you know what it means "self-hosted". It certainly does not mean that someone else is hosting it for you. Self-hosted is when you install your own software. Ariticmail looks like a company giving service to people. Not giving software to people to self-host it.

Mailwhizz is recommended for small scale sends (say 3-5k daily). The license is cheap but you will need to set up an SMTP server and some IPs on rotation.

For larger numbers nothing beats Interspire. You would need a dedicated server plus sending servers with IPs on rotation. The more SMTP servers and IPs that you have, then the greater the sending capability - there's no limit!

    Hope that helps

Try Mumara I guess, feature rich email marketing software with list of custom addons, one of the best options to be used with PowerMTA server. There are some more exciting features like ability to setup your system for parallel sending activity (Multithreading), ability to rotate among SMTPs and IPs and several other options, do give it a go...

I won't say anything new but perhaps this will help you make your decision - Sendy and Amazon. Once integrated you can easily use it, send lots of emails for a small amount of money and keep calm as your mail delivery process is in good hands . Geez, I sounded like their affiliate or something .

I have used arpreach and then moved to mailwhizz.
I use it with an VPS and and i send 50k emails daily with it.
All you need is to start small and build your IP reputation, you can
    then increase your sending volume.

amazon ses is still a third party service and you are at their mercy.

I know, amazon shut me down because of one single complaint

Therefore, in my eyes neither sendy nor mailwizz are self hosted solutions, as long as you have not set up sending through your own SMTP

I'd prefer mailwizz over sendy anytime, it gives a lot more options as to sending servers and the support is top notch (sendy support sucks ... instead of trying to figure out my problems they just refunded me without further comment)

I run mailwizz on shared hosting, and while this is perfectly possible you will notice that sending like 5k emails may take several hours sometimes if your shared server is busy.
