Some people like to use the word "Bribe" for their Optin Gift ??

I know a lot of people including some of the big goorooos like to refer to your Optin gift as a Bribe.

I heard someone of Authority just the other day refer to this term and it kind of sounded like a turn off.

I prefer Lead Magnet as more appropriate, and I think some may want to rethink their position on calling it a Bribe which has negative connotation

    I agree with you ...

I think "bribe" is one of those terms which marketers use among themselves and don't intend to use it "in front of the subscriber/customer" but it does spill over and end up being used that way by people who aren't aware of its negative connotation and/or don't think it through. (I think the same is true of some other things like "squeeze-page" which I've seen marketers using in their URL, which the visitors can see! ).

I try not to use the term "bribe", although discussions amongst 'just us chickens' will see the term 'ethical bribe'.

For public consumption, though, I'm not even a big fan of "lead magnet."

I prefer the really old school term of "subscription premium" or "bonus".

Yeah for the most part I was referring to when it is used privately amongst Marketers.

Just doesn't sit with my philosophy and do not like to hear it
