email to my blog posters?

Am I permitted by the FCC to email the folks who have posted on my blog, using the emails they entered into the comment form? I would be emailing them about a sequel to the book that they came to the blog to post about.

Thanks for any thoughts.

There are rules about SPAM, and one of the biggest ones is to NOT email people you don't have an existing relationship with unless you meet a bunch of conditions. It would appear you already have an existing relationship of a sort.

Just send them a friendly email, thanking them for posting on your blog and telling them what you have done with writing your new book. Truthfully, you are better off, not bcc ing them, but if you have a ton of them, you could do that.

It should be okay, considering your email will offer relevant information for them. Just make sure that you don't spam them because that will not only have them blacklisting you, that could also result in them not wanting to interact on your website anymore. If they open the email you send them, you can also direct them to subscribe to your email listing, if they haven't done so already.

I'll second that. Should be no problem at all. I have done it many times when poeple have comments on my blog in the past. I saw their email and sent a nice little thank you over to them.

It is just good business sense and fosters good relationships.

        Thanks All!

I was a little concerned about it, but I do agree that as long as I keep to the topic it's within bounds.

I will definitely give them a link to opt-in to my updates which will tell them when new volumes are available, and I'll invite them to continue to contribute.
