Sending email to .gov type email

I will be grateful if anybody can suggest me on this matter. I have a list of emails that contain 60% of abc[@]abc.gov.xx type email. If I send email to gov emails is there any possibilities to face legal issues? Anybody heave any experience to send email to .gov email extension?
Eagerly waiting for response.

This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Why would you think that this is even remotely a good idea?

All you need to do is piss off one person at fbi.gov or irs.gov (I'm sure there are a lot more examples - crazy Canadian here) and you're in for a word of hurt.

Of course all of this assumes that you're actually in the US.

Did these people voluntarily opt-in to your email list?

If so, as long as you aren't breaking any laws I wouldn't worry. And if it really bugs you, you could always prune them off your list.

I buy co-reg lists and always remove .gov/.org if any exist. With co-reg there is almost always going to be some amount of garbage, so as a precaution they get dumped.

I had a list of 30k state employees that I use to email. I made money and never had any legal issues.

That said, I now take out .gov and most .org before I send mail.

You failed to notice my final comment.

"That said, I now take out .gov and most .org before I send mail."

Meaning, I now remove all .gov emails and do not mail to any of my old .gov list or .gov contacts within other list.
