ListWire - Is it worth it???

Hi Friends,

I'm interested in trying either Mailchimp or Listwire because I'm on a low budget right now. I know that Listwire inserts ads within your signups (especially in followups). But from any of your experienced email marketers, do you feel that it's worth it to use this free service? Do you feel that these ads will completely distract your recipients or do you feel that they will still stick with your emails? I may try Mailchimp instead. Would appreciate the feedback.

If you want your signups to stay as your signups, you would be well advised to not use a service that sends targeted advertisements along with any emails that you write.

If you are doing affiliate marketing then sty away from Mailchimp. Seriously, if there is any way you can swing it, you are much better off using a paid for service.

I would have to say that the answer to your questions depends on what you plan to do with a list ... the free services do not like internet marketers and can cancel your account at any time.

and yes, of course anything but your message in the email is distracting and may send your reader off to another direction ... that is up to you if you are good with that.

I know that you can currently get imnicamail first month free and $3 monthly after that for up to a certain number, though I don't remember it off the top of my head. I'm currently using it.

I agree with others that Listwire is costly even though it's free. You mentioned the ads... I could be mistaken, but I was under the distinct impression that Listwire also basically makes your list theirs. Which users may or may not realize. But if I opted in to something and then suddenly started getting a bunch of different ad emails, personally I would assume it came from the thing I opted into. If that's the case, Listwire would be costly in that people on your list are going to assume that all of those spammy emails are coming from you.

Plus, with all due respect, the guy behind Listwire - his name escapes me at the moment but I have not had the greatest impression of him. When people have gone online and said negative things about his services he seems to have a tendency to respond with both barrels blazing, if you know what I mean. But that's just my impression.

I've also used MailChimp but for some reason I couldn't use it to establish a list. Not sure what was going on - it was a few years ago and it might have been something I was doing wrong. But I could upload a list to it but I couldn't seem to get opt-ins going with it with my free account. Again, not sure if that was them or me.

Don't use a free service. Why not host your own mailing list software if you want to cut down costs?

    Hi Mark,

We don’t use or recommend listwire to our clients anymore because of their bad service but we DO use or recommend Getresponse. As we rather pay $15 for 1st service anytime

It's been said before don't compromise you autoresponder.

It is the most valuable asset you have. Do you really want to cut down on the quality there?

Forget Listwire - They only make your subs go byebye, because they spam them like hell.
    Stay AWAY!

I will second what the others are saying and try to persuade you to fork over just a little bit to build a real business with an Autoresponder like Aweber or Get Response.

In the long run , it will pay off

7 years ago I had the same mindset as you and wish I had just started sooner with a real AR service
