Selling a Product Via Email

When selling a product to your list in a related niche, how do you structure your emails in the way of content and promotion?

What should the minimum length of the email series be?

What do you do with the subs who buy or didn't buy and go through the entire series?

EDIT: I'm in the weightloss/niche.

Your questions are tough to answer as they are someone vague. By that I guess I mean that the answers depend on the niche you are in. For structuring your rmails it is generaly recommended that you provide good quality content most of the time and sales / promo emails only some of the time. Maybe something like a 80 to 20 ratio of content to promotion.

As for minimum length of the series you do not want to think in terms of minimum because you ideally want them to be on your list for the long term and perhaps make multiple purchases over time from you.

Very good point about using a quality email service / autoresponder. Some people cheap out and use free autoresponders and find out that their emails are not getting opened because they end up as spam.

Another tip is that with your autoresponder have the email address on file (the one that is the return address for your messages) as a domain email (such as Admin@MyDomain.com). Do not use a gmail or hotmail or other free address for your return. This will help with avoiding the spam issue.

Entire Series ? Your series should be ongoing. Or at least 100 follow Ups,.

Length of email just depends. Most people do like to write shorter ones that really get the point across.

But long ones work as well.

Structure ? Some do One email straight content. The next email is content with a pitch at the end. And just repeat.

Others give full content every email with a PS link at the bottom for an aff. Product.

Some do 3 emails with straight content and then a fourth which is strictly a pitch for a product.

There are many ways to go about it.

Pick one that suits your style and go with it.

Content and promotion are separate emails.

You can do 80% content and then a sig file with 2-4 lines of teaser copy to get a click to sales page.

You can do 50% content and 50% sales.

You can do 80% sales and 20% content if you comfortable with losing all of those on your list who are not ready to buy or even engage in the sales process.

You can keep most people if you will do 3 out of 4 emails 80% content and 20% sales and 1 out of 4 as 50% content and 50% sales.

Test which percentage comes first. It will be different for each market or list and may depend on the seasons as well.

What should the minimum length of the email series be?
An email can be as short as 2-4 lines and still make money. Study Wes Blaylock's emails to see what I mean there.

What do you do with the subs who buy or didn't buy and go through the entire series?
The ones who become customers and go onto a customer list and from there you further your service and value to them as FAST as possible. Really, you want to upsell them during the process, after their order give them a special deal, then remind them of the deal for 3-5 days after that.

From there if they are on a monthyl continuity plan offer them one.

After 30 days, if you are in a business to consumer market, your sale is almost lost and they can be remarketed to once a week after that and can be used as a means to get them to spread the word about you, but only try to go for the sale again in one month to three months.

If you are in a business to business market, then you will times my numbers above by 3 accept the follow up. Keep the frequency of follow-up the same. In fact, you can reach them with follow-up 2 to 3 times per week after that if they don't buy. But business to business sales can take UP TO 90 days to close. So keep that in mind and don't cut your sequence short.

Test test test. The niche always makes a difference, but it is only a difference you can know by testing all of the above and seeing what works.

First determine how long your client will use the product to know that time you will send another offer. when they puchase , get out people who purchase everytime and start to divise or segmenting your list. Then you will know what kind of information send to each group. In internet marketing every thing must be tested

The best way to answer that question is try present good content while offering a promo. Try to be as straight to the point with your content as possible. You can break it up into a series of emails if needed while still offering your product recommendation towards the end of your content.
