No. Your blog can be your home page, no need for another website.

Agree with smedia. Your blog can already be set as your homepage. Everything that you think people might get interested can be placed there.

        Hi.

What do you have to offer your market? Why are you starting a blog in the first place? Are you a writer? Are you planning to sell a product? A little more information would help.

I started my business with a free blog to see if there was any interest in what I had to offer. I kept the blog going for seven years and am just now having a full website created.

At first, I just blogged. Then, maybe two or three years in, I began offering products from the blog. I posted a link for readers to click which took them to a sales page and buy button for the product. It worked well.

It takes time to get a blog going and get people reading regularly, so don't get discouraged. And don't just wait for people to come to you. Go get 'em! Put your blog's link in your email signature, and any related forums you can find to let others know who might be interested.

I'd wait on the website. Get the blog going strong and it will help you understand your market better. And your blog will also help your market understand you and what you have to offer better too!

There is NO question a Blog can help. It can be a 'feeder' for your email marketing and collecting valuable info. to build a List.

That being said as I have evolved as a Marketer I am gravitating farther and farther away from Blogs.

I still have some for CPA and Adsense but less and less dedicated as a 'feeder' for List Building.

It is just not worth the time for me anymore

No Website = Blog, maybe you can just setup a landing page within the blog. put there what you have to offer.

Even I think You do not require a website. Blog is enough for now, website can do latter.

WordPress can work as either/or or both. I've been learning a lot about it, and it's got a lot more possibilities than I ever imagined. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too!

You should always have your own domain name. When you do this, you can pretty much do what ever you want with it.

Most people have a blog but it is not their own domain name. They are sharing that blog with others.

Long term, it is a good idea to have your own website/blog.

Do you have a particular reason why you need a home page separate than your blog's? You could either set up a landing page, but it's not necessary, you can simply set up a static page as your home page and have your categories + articles available in the sidebar, for instance.
