Question about Email List Brokering

Hey guys, I'm glad I found this website. A lot of useful information on here. So thank you already for everything I've learned.

I recently started a new career selling ad space for a companies multiple email newsletters. I've done sales for years but this is a little different. The company has multiple e-newsletters about finance, health, golf with subscribers ranging from 50,000 - 200,000.

My boss has me cold calling/emailing potential clients I find and I've gotten one deal so far. I'm interested in posting a classified in this forum but I'm confused about the pricing. Most people in there for solo ads are selling per click which seems really cheap. Were selling dedicated solo's on our newsletters for $1,500+ for one send and also sponsored ad placements. It doesnt seem the clicks are vastly superior for us to justify the price increase. Our demographic is 70% Male 45+. maybe that plays a role.

Am I missing something regarding the pricing of this kind of marketing?

Any recommendations on filling this ad calendar and getting clients?

Thank you.

The main reason why solo ads here sell per click is because buyers can get smaller lots.

It seems that you are looking to sell one major blast and with no real guarantees of clicks, you might want to reconsider.

The typical business model is to sell solo ads based on clicks.

If you insist on selling your e-mail blast at $1,500 per cent, you might have a tough time getting customers.

That is just too much money to spend at one time.

You might want to think about breaking that up into more manageable pieces.

Those smaller deals would probably move much faster.

Of course, to maximize your chances of actually selling ad blasts to your mailing list, you have to show proof of responsiveness and also some sort of demographic breakdown.

People should be able to verify your information.

Thank you for the tips Icoachu. Now that they are priced better, would you recommend a way of getting advertisers? I cold emailed & called quality leads who would be great fits but I think I may be starting to hit their spam folders... Not getting much responses.

I'd say break up the clicks, and sell it to people in smaller chunks.

Start selling packages as low as 50 or 100 clicks as well as other various packages.

You can start small at $.35 per click. Yes, it might be a little low, but the idea is to get customers that will continue to keep coming back, and paying you over and over.

Then when you get testimonials start to the raise the price.

People always like to test the waters first, and $1,500 is a lot of money, especially when people don't know what to expect.

As has already been suggested break your packages down to at least get your self into the game. If you have good, high quality traffic you'll have no problem at all selling it once that's been established.

$1500 might be a lot of money to some customers
$1500 for some people is a test budget.
It really all depends on the kind of customer that you are able to find.
