Typical double opt-in rates?
Atm I am building a new list in a gardening niche. Using aweber, only 50% of potential subscribers are confirming their subscription to my list, despite the fact I've outlined very clearly that once they do that, the download link for their free e-book will be received in the next mailing. I made the process as newbie-friendly as possible.
This is a lower rate than I was expecting, was wondering if it's because this niche is not necessarily as tech savvy, but if other factors come to mind please share that too.
It makes single opt-in seem attractive, but I live in Canada and have Canadians on other lists so don't want to risk my business on a single opt-in process. So, I'm not looking to switch to single opt-in, just need to have a better context of expectation. Thanks for any thoughts on the topic.
