Is an email grabber legal?

I have created a PHP script that grabs all email addresses from a website. My question is: is it legal? It selects the emails from the HTML code, so it's only public information.

I think that is spamming - I would not like you to scrape my email addresses then start marketing to me! I guess you could send them to an opt-in page?

Somewhere down the line, you would be hit with something we call ethical marketing. It is wrong to grab emails without the consent of the other party. Then again, this is just an unsolicited advice.

    • I don't think it is illegal to grab an email address that's out there for public. People put their email address on their website to be used to contact them.

However with what I understand you'll be using their emails to email them again and again, which is spamming and is definitely illegal.

I also think it depends. Traditional mailbox or phone marketing has the same issues, spam mails or DMs.
Compared to email spamming, I hate phone marketing. It's really annoying than the other kind of spamming.
The most important stuff is to allow people unsubscribe if they don't want to get your emails forever.
