Is a 25% open rate for emails good?

I've been away from the email marketing game for a while now and I'm getting back into it.

Trying to optimize my campaign right now. I ordered my first solo and I'm at a 25% open rate for the first email right now. The good thing is that everybody that's opened the email has clicked on the link, even though it's the freebie.

Should I make any changes this early in the testing stages or wait it out and see what happens?

Note: I'm only in the 15-30 subscriber range right now because I'm trying to test everything out before I start putting real money into traffic.

Thoughts & suggestions?

The list size is too small to determine if it's "good" or "bad"...

After all, open rate isn't as amazing as most make it out to be...

As I'd rather have low opens and more sales...

Compared to more opens and less sales

Keep in mind, that when investing in paid traffic...

    Those number can change drastically.

I think your subscriber numbers are a bit too low at the moment to tell, but that being said 25% is nothing to scoff at.

You should be able to get to 30% or a bit more with some tweaks to your subject headline and the first sentence of your email body.

(Not always, but sometimes the first sentence shows as the preview and can further sculpt your email's perceived "image.")

25% is very low. especially for the first couple of emails because it will only get lower
after the first couple by a dramatic drop.

If I can't keep my open rates at least 50% through the first couple months then I consider it a failure.

Open rate is usually highest with the first couple of emails and keeps on decreasing after that. Low open rate is more common when you are using single-optin.
